Cheltenham Borough Council’s Sport and Development teams have devised a comprehensive schedule of children’s sports and activities and booking begins on Monday 30th June.
Free Play activities will be taking place as usual in local parks throughout Cheltenham Borough as well as sessions of street games.
National Play Day is on Wednesday, 6th August and this will be celebrated in Pittville Park from 11am-4pm. There will be a climbing wall, animal mania, inflatable toys plus a visit from The Music Man! There will be a cost of £2 for children of 3yrs and over.
Activities and sports will be held in the following venues:
Balcarras Sports Centre – is running play zone schemes. These are both drop-in and pre-bookable, and run from 8.30am-5.30/6pm. Cost = £15
Rowanfield Infant School – is hosting a drop-in play zone at a cost of £3 per session. These run from 10am-3pm.
Play zone schemes provide lots of activities such as sports, rounders, dance, zorbing, cooking and craft activities. The Play Zone organisers will also be running excursions to Far Peak climbing centre, Bristol Zoo, Weston Beach and Sea Life Centre, Battle sports, and the Animal Shelter.
Leckhampton Primary School are providing coaching workshops in kin-ball, dodge-ball, and fencing.
Leckhampton school will be hosting a Games Week including sports such as uni-hockey, dodgeball, athletics, and football.
Leisure-at-cheltenham are offering workshops in golf, water polo, handball, indoor cricket and archery. There is also a 3-day archery course for young people wanting to learn more about this sport.
Montpellier Tennis Programme is providing up to 3 days of tennis coaching for young tennis enthusiasts to hone their skills.
