Easter holiday activities for children!

Local Sports clubs are working together with Cheltenham Borough Council to produce a wide and varied programme of sporting activities during Easter time. Among the vast array of exciting events are: Indoor Cricket, Kung Fu, and Futsal which is a lively indoor version of football.

Children can also take part in coaching workshops in the following: archery, street dance, table tennis, and water polo. The popular Montpellier Tennis Programme will also be taking place.

With the assistance of leisure@ Badminton Junior Club youngsters, there will also be an enjoyable introduction to badminton for children of five to nine years. Two classes will be held on Wednesday 3rd April from10am to 11am, and 11am to 12 noon. The sessions will be run by Dan Brookes, a qualified England Badminton Coach, helped by his junior club members.

Play Zone Holiday Play Scheme returns this Easter to Balcarras Sports Centre (on a pre-booking basis only) and to Rowanfield Infant School (on a first-come first-served basis).

During the Easter holidays Play Rangers will be visiting local parks. They will be involving children in lots of activities including: arts, crafts, and sports. These sessions are free and run from 10.30am to 3.30pm in various locations. Also the Sports Development Team will be providing drop-in street games and sport activities in locations throughout Cheltenham Borough. These sessions are aimed at young people from 11yrs-18yrs. and are free of charge.

The booking line has already been busy and Sports Development Officer, Tom Sparks, is advising parents to book now as spaces are beginning to fill up.

Councillor Rowena Hay, Cabinet Member for Sport and Culture, said: “Both the Sports and Play Development Teams have been busy arranging a variety of activities to keep young people entertained throughout the holidays. It’s important children keep fit and active whilst having fun and I’m sure our holiday programme will do all of this.”
