Dogs from Cheltenham – and their families of course – are all invited to join in the fun for the tenth anniversary of the Paws in the Park event on Sunday 4 August in Pittville Park from 11am.

The event is hosted by Cheltenham Borough Council and includes novelty dog shows, stands from animal charities, bouncy castles, face painting and a first this year, a bandstand-style concert from Cirencester Band at 2.30pm.

Dog shows include:

  • Novelty dog show, (registration at 11am for a noon show). Ten classes including most handsome dog and prettiest bitch, most appealing eyes and the dog the judge would most like to take home. Something for all sizes, shapes and breeds of dogs!
  • Cheltenham Animal Shelter will be running have-a-go agility and dog scurry, with assistance from the Aston Project, a local initiative for young people in Cheltenham.
  • Kennel Club’s Good Citizenship Awards (11am to 1pm) A chance for families to put through their paces, earning recognition for being responsible owners.

Janice Payne, the council’s community ranger says: “It’s a pleasure to be involved in organising Paws in the Park, particularly for the tenth anniversary celebrations. The event is always very popular and so much fun – please do come along and experience it for yourself.”

Cllr Roger Whyborn says: “If the past ten years is anything to go by, this event will be a really fun day out. It’s great to see events like this bringing the community together to celebrate responsible ownership and promoting active lifestyles for the whole family.”
