I used to go to the basement under protest 20 odd years ago. Was never a fan at all, would prefer the other end of Chelmsford.
Ended up in here with friends at Christmas (easily led after a few beers) and was really impressed. It's undergone a lot of changes, which made the whole experience so much better. Would gladly come back on another night out.

Was in Chelmsford, and did not know where it eat, this restaurant was conveniently placed.
Was busy in there but the maître D got us a table. We did not have time for starter or dessert sadly.
But the staff were friendly and the food really good, there is nothing I could fault.
The mark down was because no one check if the food was ok or offer my drinks.
Top restaurant give it a try!

Have I found the best Italian restaurant in Chelmsford with a great atmosphere. L'unico's is a great place to visit for lunch and a great evening experience. My wife had a great lunch time meal last week and phoned me saying I've just booked for Saturday evening, I will give a true experience of my evening good and what I feel can make it even better, first this is run by Charlie who I believe who's mum was from Tuscany and who has a passion for true Italian cuisine along with Italian hospitality. I chose a bread that's not on the menu (Why Not) Focaccia which is a must order "And say Terry recommended it 😂. It was the best I've had here or abroad. Had the prawns in a light chilli the prawns were not over cooked and a great size, I had the veal in a brandy sauce which was thin and tender and tasty and my wife had halibut which was great. I did say I would mention the not positive points . Vegetables missing on the mains but that was put right within minutes and I booked a table for two but the waitress staff did not remove the the extra two sets of cutlery . But who cares when you have just found a little gem of a restaurant.
