Excellent food and staff were really friendly. Don't be put off by the decor, despite being new its a bit boring, but the quality of the food and staff make up for it.

Had dinner here last night as a group of 6 and the whole experience was faultless. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meal and we all agreed that it was excellent value for money. The staff were friendly and attentive and it was so refreshing to find that its a family run business and not another chain restaurant. Would highly recommend.

Attended this venue on New Year's Eve for dinner with some friends. The staff are excellent and very welcoming. The food can only be described as first class. Great selection and choice. Would highly recommend this place for both food and service

First and definitely not our last visit to this restaurant, fantastic starters, beautiful mains, food was with us quickly. The staff were attentive (particularly Sam) and looked after us very well. Very lucky to have another authentic Italian in Chelmsford we WILL be returning!

We have eaten here twice now and both times have been extremely impressed. The staff are helpful, friendly and efficient and make you feel welcome. The menu is extensive and reasonably priced as is the wine list. On both occasions our food was superb; on our first visit we had pasta and for the second pizzas; I really think that it was the best pizza I’ve had in Chelmsford; and I’ve had a few! Would really recommend this restaurant, I appreciate that it’s ‘off the beaten track’ from the main shopping area (excellent for the theatre though) but it is really worth the five minute walk.

Met a friend before going to the film club just before Christmas and we were genuinely thrilled at the improvements to this place made by the new owners. The layout and decoration has been improved and extended, giving a more up market and comfortable impression, the loos are brand new, and the food is even better but still reasonably priced. On top of that the service was top notch so that we got to the theatre in plenty of time - plentiful observant Italian waiters ensured our water glasses were refilled without asking and each course flowed quickly without being harried. Might have to book next time to be sure we get in!

This was our second visit to this beautifully refurbished restaurant in Chelmsford's West End - and if anything it was even better than the first.
My wife had the monkfish which she enthused over.My daughter had the green risotto which she thoroughly enjoyed.
I had a pizza which was excellent - so much better than those made by the chain restaurants. The service was attentive but not intrusive.
The house red wine was very acceptable and reasonable. If you want an enjoyable proper Italian meal you'd be hard pressed to find better in this city of ours.

Went for meal before going to the theatre as so convenient. The service was excellent, did not have to wait long at all. Food is wonderful and very authentic. Reasonably priced as well.

Went previous week with my daughter and was blown away by the quality of the food and the value. So much so last night I took my son (who is a chef!) and other family members, 8 in total, for a or Christmas meal. Again the quality was top notch and the whole experience was superb. The staff are friendly and not sure what else to say other than it's great to see a family run Italian producing quality food in Chelmsford. I'd say the quality and value far exceeds all the new arrivals into chelmsford and well worth visiting.

Good atmosphere, attentive staff, good quality food, this is an authentic Italian restaurant which provides a much better dining experience than the plethora of chains that have invaded Chelmsford.

Four of us ate here on 16th December, the food was excellent, the atmosphere was great, welcoming and relaxing, but more than anything the staff good not do enough to please, including finding a pair of reading glasses for those who were squinting at the menu. We will definitely return and spread the word about this lovely restaurant.

My daughter and myself popped in for a bite on the way back from the football. Very impressed with great authentic Italian food and service. Miles better than the, so called Italian, chains in the City Centre. We will back soon.

We had a lovely meal here last night (10th December)
Great menu choices and very affordable. I had chicken milanese for a main and it was huge.
I can also recommend the garlic bread with cheese as a starter!
Much better than lame prezzo, zizzi etc
We will be back for sure

I went with my boyfriend for a meal Saturday night to Il Palazzo, we had a really lovely three course meal, the service was very efficient, and the atmosphere was relaxed .
We found the food to be excellent , would much rather go here then to one of the chain restaurants in town. Really recommend it

Called in after out Jazz Club last Sunday afternoon when it was very quiet. Very friendly greeting and decor very tasteful. Nice understated Christmas decorations. We just had a main and dessert each with coffee and large glass of wine at around £30 a head. Lamb shank for my husband and veal for me and everything was very tasty and well presented and nicely cooked vegetables. Desserts of an Italian version of lemon meringe pie for my husband and tira misu for me a glass of Montepulciano and coffees. A very nice meal and will definitely return. Ideally situated near the Civic and Cramphorn Theatres and bus and rail stations.

We visited as a part of five to celebrate my wife's birthday. I have to say everything was perfect.
The service was attentive but not intrusive. The staff were all friendly but also knowledgable about the food and wine.
All five of us had different starters and mains and all gave the "thumbs up" to their choices.
I can see this place getting very popular especially in the run up to Christmas, book now, you won't be disappointed.

Went for a meal with friends at this restaurant - first time for us all. I'm a wheelchair user, and have to say access was brilliant - sadly not always the case with restaurants who say they are disabled friendly.
The food was amazing - but be warned - arrive on an empty stomach as the portions are HUGE !The quality of ingredients was great, and the menu was extensive - the only problem was choosing what to have ! Wine was reasonable at £20 a bottle, and the service faultless. The staff were friendly and helpful, and didn't make us feel rushed at all.
Definitely going to return - this ones a keeper !

I had eaten in their Westcliff restaurant so I was delighted to see them coming closer to home in Chelmfsford and hoping their standards would be as good. I needn't have worried, their food and service were as good as you could ask. The chicken salad starter was very tasty, Vitello Boscaiola in creamy sauce melting off the fork and the unusual pineapple dessert Carpaccio de Ananas a delicious surprise. Very attentive staff, friendly atmosphere, I'll be going back and I hope their new venture is a success!

Our first visit to Il Palazzo and it will not be the last! Customer care could not be faulted, neither could the food. The House White wine was very acceptable and the table service attentive but not intrusive. Will definitely recommend this restaurant to our friends.

Although it has only been open for a few weeks this restaurant has set the standard for service. The waiting staff are, without doubt, very efficient and attentive. They ensure you have a wonderful experience with superb food, well presented and a choice of different dishes to make a choice difficult.
The atmosphere in the restaurant is such that it encourages easy relaxed conversation, perfect for an evening out. I have dined twice and found it gets better each time. Cannot recommend it enough

Ate here last night as a group of 6. We all had a marvelous time. The food was great, service attentive but not pushy and value for money was exceptional. It was so refreshing too to find that they are not part of a large chain.
