Building work commenced recently on the £5M project, which aims to "transform the lives" of young people, and the facility will include a gym, a climbing wall, boxing ring, a range of indoor and outdoor sports, plus IT facilities, dance and performing arts activities and a sound studio.
The Youth Zone will be for the use of youngsters throughout the city and surrounding areas, and will be staffed by skilled professionals and local volunteers. Running costs are anticipated to be somewhere in the region of £1M a year, some of which will need to be raised locally.
There's nothing quite like it in Carlisle or the region, and this is a fantastic opportunity for local businesses to offer their support for a facility which could quite literally change lives.
