It's not all Doom and Gloom!

I watched a bit of the regional news this morning - it's not my usual way to start the day, I have to say - but for millions in the UK, this is the norm.  Before the school run, before work, or before that first cup of coffee.  A local report focused on the aftermath of the Cockermouth floods, with a young girl interviewed and commenting on the lasting trauma of the event.  Recession; credit crunch; floods; Redcar Steelworks - day in, day out, there's a lot of (genuine) bad news out there.  Day in, day out, these messages are repeated.  We get used to bad news.

Doing my rounds with local business owners each day, I also hear much to really be positive about - like just how close local photographic studio Picture U came to being voted into the top 5 photographers in the UK by their customers:

and how the Indigo Indian restaurant

has just expanded - opening a new restaurant in Cockermouth(!) in The Old Kings Arms Lane.

It heartens me when I head stories like this, and I'd like to hear more.

If you have any good new stories, send them in!  It doesn't have to be business-related either.  Simply use the contact the bestofcarlisle page
