Explore Nature Writing and unleash your creativity

Throughout the day we will cover the main topics of nature writing:

  • define ‘nature writing’ – what it is, what it isn’t, with a discussion around what course members understand the term to mean.
  • Does nature writing have a purpose? If so, what is it?
  • Group discussion of example texts. What do they have in common, how do they differ, what does the writer assume about the reader’s nature knowledge?
  • Exercise — spend 45 mins exploring the countryside around Kindavillage before writing prose or poetry inspired by the experience.
  • Working in pairs, present your writing process and output to your partner and identify similarities/differences of approach and then discuss these with the group.
  • Reaching an audience – thoughts on how to become a published writer.

The course includes a healthy, homemade lunch
