When should the festivities begin?

Tomorrow is the 1st of October - is it time yet?  Was 1st of August time?  Is Mid November time?

Time for what?  To start mentioning the C word - CHRISTMAS.

I know that for some they have been at it for months - mentioning the C word but at what point are the general public tolerant to talk about Christmas - and at what point will we all be completely overwhelmed by the traditional commerciality of it all.

Difficult one - I 'm not a massive Christmas fan - I like the time with family, the carols and the idea of Christmas but it has almost become a three month festival/marathon.

Now I haven't been anywhere where they have started on the Christmas music yet - but it can't be far away.  How do people who work in shops black it out... I swear if I had to listen to Slade et all every day relentlessly I would be in an asylum!  Hands up,  it is a catchy tune but after thirty plus years it has kind of exceeded it's initial appeal....anyway.

For many businesses "the season" can make or break them.  For some it is a time to earn the lion's share of incomefor the year - but for other businesses it just goes dead for months and they have to just hang on.

For restaurants on the best of cardiff - Valentino's, Lorenza's, Positanao's etc.  It is an important time to have Christmas parties and they are all excellent at it but for many clients in a recession it is a bleak time.

The Christmas party season is one of great choice such as the excellent event run by Eventure UK as shown in the picture or the superb value of the Millennium Stadium packages - but the competition for the party pound is ruthless.

Hence, some companies start to promote Christmas earlier and earlier to steal competitive advantage - get bookings or is it all too late already?

Anyone have a perfect start date they have settled on for any reason - let me know your thoughts?
