Virgin Media team get a ‘bra-vo’ for charity

Virgin Media employees collect bras for local charity plea

The Cardiff-based Virgin Media team showed their ‘support’ for the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance’s recent ‘Bag a Bra’ appeal – by collecting nearly 60 bras to donate to the worthy cause.

As part of Virgin Media’s nationwide Community Week, Virgin Media staff across the UK were encouraged to give time and donations to charities and the community. So, when the Hampshire & Isle of Wight Air Ambulance (HIOWAA) called out to women to donate their unwanted bras for a clothes recycling charity scheme, the women at Virgin Media responded to the challenge!

The collection of an uplifting 60 bras will be provided to women in West Africa for resale at affordable prices, helping to raise self-esteem. Joy Roche-Ellis, Charity Champ at Virgin Media in Cardiff said, “We organise a lot of fundraising events throughout the year and this was something a bit different to what we usually do. It was surprising how many bras we managed to collect from our team – a great effort by all and huge thanks to the kind-hearted Virgin Media team for their bra-vellous contribution.”

June Leatheam from HIOWAA commented, “Every year our ‘Bag a Bra’ appeal receives lots of support and it is great to be doing something for a worthy cause. The Virgin Media team deserve a huge bra-vo for their collection.”
