Sand. Nice stuff but not terribly exciting. Now we have some sand in Cardiff but the nearest sandy beach I suppose is Barry Island.
Of course, Barry Island is now made famous by Gavin & Stacey where it's all occurrin' - but why did I mention sand. Well on this occasion it's been occurrin' in the Urkraine where sand and art have combined and I thought I would share this with you.
This weblink shows a video on You tube of Kseniya Simonova the 24 year old winner of 2009 Ukraine's Got Talent. Check this out it is amazing.
She draws a series of pictures showing how ordinary people were affected by the German invasion during WW11. It reminds me of the speed and skill of Rolf Harris from when I was young, but to do what she does in sand in incredible.
In the Ukraine World War 11 resulted in 1 in 4 of the population being killed with 8 -11 million deaths out of a 42m population. The art she produced clearly moved the locals to tears. - now that is the true power of art and talent.
