Enjoy a delicious lunch at Pizza Express in Cardiff Bay

Wow my Monday was definitely made better with a delicious lunch at Pizza Express at Mermaid Quay, Cardiff Bay. It was a bit of a chilly afternoon and I was greeted with a very warm welcome by the restaurant manager, Richard who offered a place to sit and some warm drinks to start. My latte was lovely and strong, it hit the spot after walking around Cardiff Bay on a winter afternoon. The atmosphere at the recently transformed pizza restaurant was cosy and the service from all of the staff was so warm and friendly I didn't want to leave, they couldn't do enough for their customers.

I sat at one of the window tables so I could take in the scenic views of the bay, where I could spot the Doctor Who Experience, the iconic Norwegian Church and the Pierhead.

There is a vast choice of meals on the menu and there's definitely something for the whole family to enjoy. (Not just pizza!) It took me a while to decide what to have as there is so much choice and even a 'cracking' christmas menu. In the end I decided to go for the new Carbonara pizza as I have never tried it before.

There weremsome Christmas classics playing quietly in the background while we were sitting in the restaurant, which has definitely put me in the Christmas mood seeing as it is now the start of December and the countdown begins! I planned to catch up on some emails while waiting for food but my meal was served very quickly.

I was amazed at the size of the pizza, The carbonara pizza included pancetta which was generously topped on a delicious béchamel sauce over a thin, but not too crispy pizza base, Mozzarella and gran Moravia cheese drizzled with garlic oil, with a sprinkling of fresh parsley and gran Moravia topping, with a free range egg in the centre. It was like breakfast on a pizza, two of my favourite foods!

(See the menu on their website here)

I'm a pretty big eater and I don't go for small portions but the pizza was definitely plenty and I was full after half, I probably went a bit big for lunch but I couldn't waste a crumb!

I will definitely be visiting again to try the festive mince pie cheesecake, which we were told is probably not suitable for children as the fruit is soaked in rum, which is fine by me!

Thank you once again to everyone at Pizza Express for your kind hospitality and delicious food. 5 Stars from myself and Kevin at thebestof Cardiff

I will definitely be back soon

For anyone thinking of visiting they have a fab lunch menu start and main offer for Two Courses for £14.95!
