Cardiff should be Proud

Yesterday was a big day for Cardiff as the city went centre stage as the first day of the Ashes Series got under way at the Swalec Stadium.

As Max would say, 'I was there' and very proud to be there.  Great, great day and a match that pivotted the initiative between both sides.

Lots of special moments as the first ever Test Match to be staged in Wales made the Swalec Stadium the 100th venue in the world to ever stage Test Cricket.

Having listened to the first session this morning the last three wickets adding 99 was unexpected and very welcome.  Let's hope Australia do not consolidate on their good start.  The runs have really flowed this morning.

But yesterday - as a spectacle Glamorgan can be very proud of the staging of the fixture - everyone I spoke to was appreciative of the venue and had enjoyed their day.

I went with a friend of mine and we had great seats close to the sightscreen at the Catherdral Road End.  Sitting next to us were a gang of guys who usually go to Edgbaston from their base in Gloucestershire - they felt the stadium was better than Edgbaston!

We seem to have won the media over as well, as all the pre-match hype about coming to Cardiff has faded and a terriffic contest seems to be unfolding.

I mentioned before that we were having our lunch prepared for us by EJ Catering - it was superb and simply delicious and fantastic value.

I think England will definitely win the Ashes as the Austyalian attack looked hardworking but light weight - let's hope I don't have to eat my words and they will definitely not taste as nice as our lunch.  Series prediction 3-0 England.
