Be a secret Cardiff Hero

August is a traditional holiday month so I thought I would remind everyone who can to give blood this month.

As long as you meet the tedious criteria it really is very easy to do. Check out where you can donate in August in Cardiff or vist the Welsh Blood Service website for the criteria to donate.

For me it has become something I love to do for a whole host of reasons:

I want to get my next card after 25 donations (I am at about 20 odd)

My parents have been poorly in the last couple of years so as they are using donations I am trying to replenish stocks for others!

I am a very fast donation - literally a few minutes and I'm done.  I always donate in less than 4 minutes and my best is probably closer to 3 - anyone out there top that....

My blood group is A+ which is allegedly the most common blood group in Wales (not O which is UK wide) so they hopefully have greater need for my blood.  The rarest groups and the most common are both desperately needed.

It is not always easy to give something for nothing - to give something back for no recognition other than you can genuinely save people's lives and be a secret hero.  That is very rewarding.

I did not give blood until the day of my 35th birthday - I had always had an excuse and it seemed something special to do on my birthday - don't wait - help someone today - give up an hour of your time tops and be a secret hero.

Ps.  Let me know how you get on and don't worry you can leave your underpants inside your trousers!!!
