We arrived on a cold evening in January. We were made very welcome from the beginning. The room was of a high standard especially for the price we paid. The restaurant food was lovely and the service was good. We had a couple of drinks in the bar and then joined the hotel staff party next door. We were made to feel very welcome by all the staff at the party and had a really great night. Holly was amazing. Very helpful and professional but also friendly and engaging. The whole place was spotlessly clean and the bed was comfortable. Breakfast offered a good choice and was delicious. All in all a great experience before we journeyed on to Yorkshire. We will definitely come again.

I held my 50th birthday with 80 plus guests here in the Holcolme Suite. Warren & Donna sorted out pretty much everything & nothing was a problem for them. You'd be hard pushed to find a friendlier pair of people. The function room was perfect with its own bar, drink prices are reasonable & the food was amazing. An LED dance floor was provided & a DJ was recommended who had the dance floor full. All the staff couldn't do enough for you. We stayed over at the hotel & the rooms are nice, clean & have great bathrooms. Breakfast was tasty with an extensive menu. A few guests had food on the Saturday afternoon & all commented how good the food was.
After the party the feedback from my guests was all full of praise for the venue, staff & food. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend someone to stay here & especially have a party. I'm back again in a few weeks for someone who has booked a party for 90 people.

Love this restaurant. Great staff, great food, good price. What else do you want?! Thanks Red Hall, this is not the first or the last visit for myself and my wife. The lunch set menu is what we plumped for. At £12 for two courses or £14 for three, we like the price and the quality of the food & presentation is top notch.

Recommended by friends and was not disappointed. Staff very friendly and welcoming, room was excellent, clean and very well put together. Lovely view of fields and sheep so nice and quiet. Had lunch in restaurant, great choices and good quality ingredients at reasonable prices. We paid just over £50.00 per room including breakfast .....so go figure. Stayed in more expensive hotels and not enjoyed it as much as this one. Will be back !!

Almost faultless!!! Friendly staff, nice evening meal (one of our party was vegan, unfortunately nothing for her other than soup). Room was nice and clean. I stay in a lot of hotels, and I can say that the shower is about the best ever!!! Nice breakfast!!! Definitely recommended!!!

The reason for my title for this review is that I was taken very unwell in the dining room during our first night there, and the staff responded so quickly and tactfully, and only showed concern for me. I left them with some cleaning up to do, but they waved away my apology. Not all hotels would have dealt so well. Unfortunately it seems I had picked up a virus, so in the morning we checked out instead of our 2 night stay and with out breakfast. As if that wasn't enough I then found out when I got home that I had left my hand bag and my husbands coat on the bed. But the staff had already rang our home and left messages on the answering machine. We had invited friends to join us for dinner that night, as they lived fairly near to the Red Hall when I told them what had happened they volunteered to go the the hotel and collect the bag and coat, and bring it to our home in N. Wales. I think we were lucky in our choice of hotel and friends. We will return to the Red Hall as soon as we can, the hotel is spotless in all areas and lovely big rooms too. The dining room is really comfortable and well designed, all in all one of the nicest hotels we have stayed in for a long time

The reception room was decorated lovely. The area outside the room where you waited for the reception was very tiny with not a lot of seating for 58 people! The chicken dinner served was absolutely delicious as was the sticky toffee pudding for dessert, definitely not your average banquet meal. The dance floor took awhile to set up however was fine in the end. I would say this was a good choice made by our granddaughter for a reception.

We checked into the room around fourish with the knowledge that there was to be a sportsman's dinner that evening and we were advised to get into our dinner booking on time. No issue with this.
Expecting that 125 people were about to be served I settled in for a wait. Not at all!
The Italian? Waiter was welcoming, got our drinks efficiently and took our order. I had been 'warned' that the menu was expensive, it wasn't, it was good value and the food was very good. We hadn't ordered anything other than 'pub grub' but it was good.
Yes the rooms are not large but they are very clean and comfortable, with a great shower. I send most of the Year away in hotels and I can say these are the 3 main points for anyone.
Have to mention housekeeping who knocked on and couldn't do enough. Fresh towels which were good quality, extra tea and coffee.
All in all very happily surprised.

As someone who stays in a multitude of hotels, I apply two main criteria to choosing a booking - 1. read the bad reviews - they're at least as telling as the good ones; and 2. a ratio of nightly price over guest ratings.

I noted in particular the comments back from hotel management on many of their reviews, how they approached the response, and how they conveyed a sense of pride in customer service, and so it met my criteria.

The hotel itself mainly draws its revenue from corporate business during the week and weddings and events at weekends. Many reviews refer to this. Staying on a Sunday night had neither of those groups to contend with.

The hotel, while stylishly in keeping with the architecture of the area, carries the typical room footprints you normally get in chain hotels, so nothing of a character nature there, though they are in great condition, and the rain shower head had great pressure - a bonus. The bar and dining facility is small, but with a decent menu. So the accommodation met expectation, which was market average.

I arrived apparently as the restaurant was within 30 minutes of closing, so having dropped off my bags, went to the restaurant to hear it was already a couple of minutes past last food orders. While there was a small contradiction in time offered between the reception and the restaurant, the gentleman who attended me didn't allow it to be an issue, and ensured I had full choice from the menu.

Unfortunately the food served didn't meet expectations. Something went wrong - it happens, and it doesn't mean it happens as a regular thing - I was probably unfortunate. Nevertheless i sent my food back, which takes me back to the care of service aspect....

The (now different) person behind the bar receiving me immediately asked me if I wanted something else, which I declined as it was late and my appetite gone. That it was offered, and that they wanted to inform chef was a sufficient reaction. Back at my room, shortly after I got a call from reception to take it up with me again - clearly to ensure they could put things right. The following morning, on checkout, a member of management sought me out and again apologized.

So here we have a hotel, which lost one, even two marks based on the food, but immediately made them back up again through their genuine desire for customer service, which clearly has left a better impression on me.

So on balance, geographically well placed, accommodation that meets a standard, a good price, and great customer care. The hotel would have received a higher rating without the incident, and certainly a lower rating without their reaction, so well done to them for turning it around.....
