This is a decent location for a business meeting, just off the motorway network, ample parking and easy to find a quiet corner for business discussions as well as a choice for lunch, coffee etc

Enjoyed a one night break with a friend. We booked here as its local, and we didn't want to be travelling too far. Booked via Spa Breaks and got dinner bed and breakfast with two treatments for £100. I thought this was excellent price! Had manicure and pedicure. I think as it was a cheap offer, treatments a little rushed. Nail Polish was knocked on toes. To be fair I never said anything, as I didn't want to cause a fuss. I think the girl did notice as I saw her looking. The pool / sauna / steam room great. Obviously well used but clean. The jacuzzi was a little busy most of the time but ok. The food in restaurant lovely. It was very quiet, which seemed a shame. Staff nice throughout stay. Would recommend a visit.

I stay here 10/12 times a year and it's a good business hotel. Service at front of house is always on point and staffs how an interest in you at all times. Rooms, stay away from the rooms in the main part of the hotel, they are dated, lack light and wall plugs. Look to stay in the annex or go Upper deck if the budget allows. There can be a lot of evening functions on so always ask and ensure your room is away from the conference rooms. Leisure facilities are excellent and open at 6.00am until 10.00pm. Avoid 5 - 7 as the regular gym goers tend to flock in after work. Bar food is good and what you would expect from and food. Restaraunt offers a great breakfast in the morning and a good dinner menu in the evening. Service is always good. If you are getting room service plan ahead, it can often take 40 minutes or more depending on how busy they are. Starbucks is also in the reception area and you can purchase on your room which is a good option. Wifi is usually good for streaming Netflix, Skygo and Spotify. I would not stay here on a couples weekend or a family get away, it is business and event focused.

Business, myself and two colleagues, we will return, excellent value and service, only regret is not taking advantage of the leisure facilities, entirely our own fault

Nice greeting and efficient check-in. The room though was right at the back of the hotel (back of beyond) which involved going up and down numerous stairs. The room itself was big and spacious with all the expected comforts. The bathroom though was basic and not totally clean. There were cobwebs and spiders, dirty marks on the walls and someones hairs strewn around the bathroom. Breakfast was good with plenty of choice. The location of this hotel, would be the deciding factor should i need to stay in the area again

From the moment we arrived we were welcomed by Sarah such a fantastic welcome has to be said.
Nothing was too much trouble we checked in with great ease and were given our room which i have to say was outstanding
the room was very clean and welcoming
bathroom was 5*
room 5*
we decided to use the spa where the staff were all so welcoming to be honest i felt as welcomed here as i would had i gone to another country;
in the evening we booked a meal at the restaurant and i have to say you have to try it the food is amazing we had a 10* 3 course meal with drinks very well priced they cater for all budgets. and the standard is 10* no matter what you choose
i could really go on and on but this is one resort that is a must to stay in
from top to bottom the manager and his staff will give you a welcome far beyond what you would expect
thank-you very much for a great stay.

We stopped in room 271 as a family whilst doing activities during the day.

The leisure facilities are good swimming pool with jacuzzi, steam room and sauna is great. Just be aware that there are junior times which finish at about 6/7.

The Verve restaurant is amazing. The food and service is fantastic with a range of different menus. Starbucks was good but note it is not open till late.

WiFi was good with no slow performance.

The room was the down side of the the trip. Firstly I booked a family room over the phone and they had a normal room which meant they need to set the sofa bed up. This was really uncomfortable for the kids.

The rooms are dark with very little light and with plugs in the wrong and unaccesible places. They are too hot with no air conditioning.

TV quality is poor with basic channels.

Sleep was disturbed both nights once by a private function and then by deliveries first thing in the morning.

We asked be to upgraded to Upperdeck but told children were not allowed in the rooms.

This hotel is not designed for families and need to focus on sorting their accommodation out.

I have had a better experience in a Premier Inn and regret paying the extra.

I booked the Friday feeling offer to celebrate our wedding anniversary. I emailed the hotel 3 times prior to arrival and still not had a reply. I wanted to ask if they did any special upgrades for anniversaries. We checked in quickly and went to our room. We had an upgraded room which we paid extra for but the Bose speaker system they advertise isn't really much use if you have an IPhone 5 or above as it didn't fit! The room could have done with being a bit cleaner but we didn't complain as we only needed it for 1 night. The 3 course meal which was included in the package was excellent and the staff very friendly and helpful. What we didn't like was the location of our room. It was on the 1st floor above the entrance of the hotel. They had a soul night party so when people were smoking and leaving they were stood right under our window. We even heard arguing and fighting that was very loud and kept us awake until 2am. We complained to reception in the morning and said we'd had an awful nights sleep so wanted to check out early so we could go home for some sleep. Not sure whether we would use this hotel again but if we did we would certainly be asking for a quieter room

I wrote last time that I was disappointed with our stay for various reasons! I am pleased to say that this time was much much better! We stayed in an upgraded room and the bed was much better , really comfortable and the room was lovely too! Although I do sort of think these things should come as standard I would definitely upgrade again. Breakfast was nice, staff were friendly !

Good hotel, pool was great and staff were very helpful (brought a dog with and they kept his food in the fridge & freezer for me). Slight niggle that window wouldn't close properly so a lot of noise from the front of the hotel travelled into the room. Breakfast was good, the usual stuff plus they made eggs of your choice

Firstly I must point out that I am reviewing this establishment for it's hosting of an entertainment event, and not the
Hotel accommodation.

I booked a party of 6, including my wife and myself, for a 'Boogie Tribute Night' event on the 22 August. The price of
entry included a 3 course meal, free glass of wine, and a DJ to entertain until 1 in the morning. Tickets
cost £12.95 per head through the 'Group On' website.

Many events like this include a meal in the price, but it is often not too good and the portions are meager. However we
were pleasantly surprised by the meal at the Boogie Nights event, which comprised Tomato Soup with bread roll, Chicken
with Mash and Vegetables in a light gravy, followed by a chocolate cake with whipped cream for dessert. The food was
served on time, was hot and tasty and portions were just right.

About 100 people attended the event. The hall where it was staged was well laid out, with plenty of room
between tables and a good sized dance floor.

Bar prices were a little elevated even for a Hotel.

As for entertainment, the DJ, who was probably in his late twenties, started off the evening by playing a selection of
dance tunes from the 1970s, which of
course was referred to as 'Disco' at the time. All the favourites came out, especially those connected with the classic
Movie 'Saturday Night Fever'. However, as the night wore on it became apparent that despite his youth the DJ was reluctant
to move on from the
1970s to include more recent numbers. After 3 requests from our party alone the DJ finally progressed to playing
sounds of the 1980s. Following further requests, in the later part of the evening the music mix included some up-to-date
releases, but he still insisted on returning to the 1970s on occasion. Also the volume of the Sound System seemed to grow
progressively as time passed, so that towards the end of the
night it was almost impossible to engage in conversation.

Having said all that it was quite an enjoyable evening and the DJ's preference for the 1970s did bring back some fond
memories of the decade that style forgot. It also has to be said that the price of the ticket was good value given the
quality of the meal provided.

But seriously, man, someone should take the DJ to one side and point out that Dance music didn't suddenly cease to
be released after 1979.

The Village Urban Resort is conveniently located off Junction 2 of the M66 and there is ample free parking to
the front of the Hotel.

We initially stayed 2 weeks ago for 5 Nights and thoroughly enjoyed all aspects of the hotel from the rooms, breakfast, bar, swimming and spa facilities to the very friendly and attentive staff in all outlets. On the last night of our initial stay we did encounter some noise problems from another guests but this was dealt with by Georgina who listened and dealt with our complaint in such a way that we came away feeling that we had just sat and had a chat with a friend and turned our frustration and upset around by dealing with the situation professionally and to our total satisfaction! We are now at the end of another stay for 2 nights and everything has been fantastic. We have been visiting relatives and whilst we have been busy running around like headless chickens during the day, it has also felt like a holiday in the evenings by making use of the wonderful facilities and room. We will definately make this a regular place to stay when we return again to visit our families! 😃

The Village Hotel looks a magnificent and large structure and I know the bedrooms are as advertised. The gym is very busy having little local competition and hereby lies the problem. The reception is small with a ridiculously small lounge area. There is little seating and the tables are too large, allowing for one occupant to populate a table for four. The upholstered seating is used by members of the gym, often clearly after a workout leaving the imagination to run riot with running sweat, smelly bodies and upholstery. This leaves no seating for the meeting populace.

The reception area has a small Starbucks again primitively furnished with plain metal furniture, all high stools, high tables, small tables for two and uncomfortable chairs. Very poor for a Starbucks compared to their usual standards. Surprisingly they charge Motorway Service Area prices to sit in discomfort.

There is an outside terrace maintained by Starbucks with access directly into the coffee shop. I was forced to insist on the metal tables being cleaned. The one I occupied had stains indicating the use of ten cups and therefore had not been cleaned for well over an hour. The ashtrays were overflowing.

I only hope the bedrooms and restaurant have a higher standard of cleanliness than the ground floor area.

First impressions of the hotel were good, we went for tea in the pub next door 'waterfold farm' then came back to the hotel, explored and went into the victory pub for a few drinks. For 2 drinks, it cost us £9.40. Scandalous!!

We then went up to our rooms to get an early night. I was awake throughout most of the night due to the beds being too soft, I then woke up with excruciating back ache. This obviously cannot really be worked on as people have many different preferences and cannot be made to suit everybody.

Throughout our visit we wished to watch some television, however it was not so simple to just turn the TV on. Firstly, the TV in the upper deck room was not turning on at all. Once we had contacted the reception and had it fixed, to turn it on, you did not turn switch an on button, you had to press the on button then the down volume button, followed by the up channel button. In the standard twin room, the TV would turn on but on every channel it was fuzzy and was impossible to understand anything being said or shown on the screen.

We left for breakfast at 9am but when leaving our room we placed the sign on our bedroom door saying 'v sleepy, please do not disturb' so do not come into our bedroom as it does not need cleaning.

Our breakfast was not to the standard I was expecting. One of the toast conveyors were broken and the others heat settings had been messed with so much one piece of toast would burn and the next would be barely brown. The bacon was all grease and fat. There was only orange juice to drink, no apple, cranberry or strawberry juice, we did not get offered any hot drinks. Overall we were disappointed with our breakfast.

After our breakfast, we came up to our bedroom and found that both of our rooms had been entered by the maids. Our beds were made and our possessions had all been moved. We were so disappointed in this as we had left possessions in here such as our phones, purses, cameras and jewellery. Fortunately, none of our possessions were missing but that is missing the point. We were apologised too and was offered a complimentary Starbucks coffee each.

Later in the day all four of us 18 year old girls went to the swimming pool, only to be asked for ID to prove that we were over 18. We then had to go back to our room to get our ID. When we eventually got into the swimming pool, we found that their were many people under the age of 18, so we didn't really see the point in us needing to prove our age.

All four of us were booked in for SPA treatments at 3pm. 2 of us for full body massages, 1 for a neck back and shoulder massage and another for a dermalogica facial. All of which were fantastic.

I would like to say we enjoyed our stay here but i keep thinking about one particularly rude young lady whom works on reception, sarah I believe her name was? Very abrupt I heard her speak to a young couple like they were rubbish and I also believe I heard her swear a few times which as I had children with me made me a bit uneasy to say the least. Our dining experience was ok although the young lad in charge seemed uninterested and did not appear to leave his seat at the desk although his college (Daniel?) was pleasant and made sure we were looked after. Room was ok, pool was great! Pub had a nice atmosphere.

Had a very pleasant weekend at the hotel. Staff at reception, restaurant and gym were all helpful and friendly. Good selection of food at breakfast and well organised. All the amenities by the pool were clean and in good working order (Jacuzzi, steam room etc). Enjoyed some of the fitness classes particularly the 12'oclock Sunday Step class. Instructor enthusiastic and knew her stuff. Room was spacious and quiet even though there were functions on. Would definitely stay at again.

I went to the Verve restaurant in the Village hotel in Bury with a friend for an evening meal. I thought the meal was very nice. The restaurant was busy, a bit noisy sometimes as there were quite a lot of girl groups eating. Service was good.

I have been using the Villiage now for 6 weeks and having once been afraid to even set foot in a gym im now loving it. The facilities are brilliant and the staff are friendly and approachable. Myself and friends meet up exercise and then use the pool and facilities. Its a great way to spend time with friends.

Expensive for what it is unfortunately .
What we ate was nice but portion quite small and price expensive. So many good offers around no wonder restaurant there is often quite empty. Shame as would go more often if price more competitive.
Staff were friendly, good service.

Decent sized double room with en suite. Lots of stairs up to the room. Very easy to park, more than ample spaces. Lots of different areas to eat, drink and socialise. Leisure club very good. All very clean and swift service.

Stayed in Bury for a relative's wedding. The room was comfortable with good facilities, pleasantly decorated. The bed was comfy, the room had a large settee which was a bonus, the TV was OK but very hard to find a particular channel as the guide was useless. There was an iron, ironing board, hair dryer and coffee/tea making facilities. Lighting was good, wardrobe a decent size, view over the countryside was welcome. The bathroom was fine, shower over bath worked well, facilities in bathroom were quite good, but there was no working extractor fan, even though there appeared to be a vent. Heated towel rail worked OK. No air-conditioning in the room, which we were surprised about, but the windows opened to let fresh air in at least. Breakfasts were good with plenty of choice. We are vegetarians and had no problems. Service was good even though the hotel was very full at the time. We ate at the hotel the first evening and the food was very good. The food for the "wedding breakfast" we enjoyed very much. They even made a special 'one-off' meal (mushroom risotto) for my wife who is gluten intolerant, and provided gluten free bread too. They took a lot of trouble to accommodate special diets. Other guests who were in our group didn't think their room was as nice as ours, and the hotel were happy to move them into another room. All things considered we enjoyed our stay very much, and would stay here again in the future if in the area.
