Cancer will affect one in three of us during our lifetime.

MACMILLAN CANCER SUPPORT

A charitable organisation which will support and care for thousands of patients and their families each year.

That is why we depend on the generosity of people like you for donations and the gift of time in supporting people in Bury.

We are a charity

We care

Macmillan cancer support cares and improves the lives of people affected by cancer. We are a source of care and support: providing practical care, medical care, emotional care and financial support. Listening to people affected by and working together for better cancer care.

SIX WAYS TO GET INVOLVED

We give money - No matter what we give makes an essential difference to people living with cancer and their care. One off donations, direct debits, legacies - however we choose, our money makes a vital difference.

We care

We raise money - We do this in groups, as individuals, or through our local communities. We organise balls, exhibitions, car boot sales and more. We use our interests and hobbies. From baking cakes to bathing in baked beans, there are endless ways to raise cash or gain donations.

We care

We take part - from the village hall to the worlds largest coffee morning to the london marathon and a cycling challenge in South America, there is a Macmillan event for everyone

We care

We give our time - People from all walks of life dedicate time, care and energy to improve the lives of people affected by cancer. Some of us are trained volunteers working alongside staff on the Macmillan cancer care line whilst others work in care centres providing information and emotional care and support.

We care

We make our voices heard - We share experiences online and with each other. We use our experiences to push for improvements in cancer care.

We care

We fight inequality and campaign for change - we want everyone with cancer to receive the same care regardless of who they are and where they live. We campaign for better cancer care.

Here is one testimonial

"During my mums illness Mc Millan helped my family care through what was a nightmare rollercoaster.
Mc Millan nurse Janet became a good friend to my mum and my family, she helped me sort out benefits and financial support. She helped with medication and worked with our GP and hospital to improve mums care.
After surgery and chaemotherapy we found the stomach cancer had spread further and sadly my mum died. In the last few months of mum's life we brought her home and Mc Millan organised things that would make her more comfortable . Because of the help and care that Mc Millan gave my family I now want to give something back and I did a sponsored abseil from the Manchester printworks to help raise funds for the charity."
