Summer holidays.... what to do with the children in Bromley!

The summer holidays are on here, and with them comes the age old challenge for parents of how to keep the children occupied over those long 6 weeks.

Here's a quick guide to some of the Bromley Borough hot spots for the summer holidays, most of which are right on our doorstep and the cost of which won't break the bank.

Let's start with the Pavilion Leisure Centre in Bromley which offers a swimming pool with waterfall, wave machine, flume slides and beach area. Great fun for adults and kids alike, and a full day out! Great for tiring them out with lots of activity.

For something equally as entertaining head over to Beckenham to Kelsey Park and minigolf course. With tennis courts and crazy golf, as well as a fab enclosed kids playground there really is no excuse for being indoors over the summer holidays. And even more outdoor fun in Beckenham is Beckenham Place Park with a whole host of activities including tennis courts and golf.

Somewhere that might not spring to mind but is a great picnic location is Coolings Nursery Nature Trail in Knockholt. It's a veritable feast of fun for the kids with wigwams, wallabies and bird hides to keep the little ones entertained.

When the weather is less than favourable a trip out to Chislehurst Caves could be the answer. You'll see history come alive in this truly special location, brought to you by guided tour only. And actually, the caves are a really cool place to visit, even on the hottest summer's day! Crofton Roman Villa is a bit of history right on the doorstep and is another great indoor location to bear in mind for those grey days.

I always save a visit to the Fired Up pottery studio in Petts Wood for those days where the rain just doesn't stop. For slightly older children, it's a real opportunity to let their imagination run wild and produce a creative masterpiece that they can cherish at home.

For when the budget won't quite stretch to a paid for day out, Danson Splash in Bexleyheath is a great place to tire out the kids. With no entrance fee and great interactive features, it's somewhere that's bound to keep the kids cool and entertained for hours on a sunny day.

Plenty to do with fun in store for all the family!
