That's a serious milestone... Lanes Driving School have been operating in Bromley for 100 years! Happy birthday!
It's incredible to think of all the changes our local driving school would have seen over the course of that time.... Back in 1914 cars had only been a feature on our roads for a very short time and were becoming increasingly popular, if only for those who could afford them as they were very much a luxury item reserved for the wealthy.
Fred Lane, a motor enthusiast, began selling carsearly in the 20th century. But if you're going to sell cars, you need to have the people to drive them, so Fred Lane set up his very own driving school to train car users on how to drive their vehicles.
Fast forward from the humble beginnnings to the modern day, Lanes Driving School has continued to grow, and now boasts a network of 45 instructors that cover a wide area across the South East.
So thebestof Bromley Borough wishes Lanes Driving School a wonderfully happy birthday... we're sure the Queen's telegram is in the post!
