A Very Happy 1st Birthday To The BCC

It wasn't so very long ago I wrote about The Bromley Creative Community and its exciting creation last year.

The Bromley Creative Community recently celebrated its first birthday in true BCC style at it's monthly Thirsty Thursday Pub Club event (I love that!) - toasts were made, cake was cut, and Creative members enjoyed knowing that they're part of something special in Bromley.

Launched in March 2009 with the support of Bromley Council, the Bromley Creative Community is an independent non-profit organisation run for creatives by creatives. The BCC core aim is to promote the commercial arts, graphic arts, fine arts, and perfoming arts services provided by people and organisations in the London Borough of Bromley.

Founder member, Jackie Barrie from Comms Plus said: “Since launching in 2009, BCC has grown to around 90 members. Our website www.bromleycreative.org.uk has attracted thousands of page views from hundreds of visitors and our ongoing PR activity means BCC is already well-known in the region and we've even built up a following on Twitter. It’s brilliant!”

Jackie continued: “Our aim is to expose creative businesses to new clients through our website and at events, with the aim of enticing more business into Bromley. We do everything we can to promote our Premium members by showcasing their work in the Profile, News, Gallery and Article pages on our website and by representing them at Bromley Council's Boost Your Business and Enterprise Expo events. Many of our members have won business by collaborating with each other so we create a range of opportunities for them to meet face-to-face.”

Its a fantastic opportunity for any creative mind in the Bromley area to belong to a group of like-minded people, sharing ideas, contacts, and experiences. The BCC has held a number of Bromley-based events for its members, such as the Welcome Party at The Churchill Theatre and a pre-Christmas Party at the Ivory Lounge. The new free monthly BCC Thirsty Thursday Pub Club, which is open to all members (premium and basic).

The BCC committee (formed of founder BCC members and local creative businesses) have lots of ideas to support members such as more networking opportunities, fascinating guest speakers and the inaugural BCC awards.

They are working on a peer-to-peer development programme for Premium members which I think is a fantastic idea, are in discussions about a new creative hub for Bromley, and are collecting relevant research projects to include in the member area.
Clients looking for creative suppliers can benefit through a quick and easy Request-a-Quote feature on the website www.bromleycreative.org.uk/quote.php

Here, clients can fill in the details of a project they would like a quote for and the BCC will invite interested members to make contact, thus saving the client time and creating more opportunities for Bromley’s creative businesses.

Readers wanting to be part of this exciting cluster of creative businesses should visit www.bromleycreative.org.uk/join.html

Basic membership is free. Premium membership is available for just £57 per year for companies, £27 per year for sole traders and free for affiliate members, registered charities, voluntary and amateur arts sector.
