If you’re looking for something to liven up the dark winter nights but still want to feel as comfortable as you are in your own home then The Green Man pub at Herongate has the perfect answer.

The traditional country pub boasts all the pluses of your typical country waterhole including open fires, great home-cooked food and a cosy ambience – but has also spiced up the winter evenings with some action packed theme nights with live entertainment.

Last Saturday we hosted a ‘Cockney Night’ with Chas & Dave-style entertainment and traditional ‘Cockney’ cuisine including jellied eels and cockles. Due to the popularity of the event, the pub’s restaurant was fully booked but visitors were still able to enjoy some East End specialities on the bar menu.

Following on from its Cockney night, The Green Man is hosting an ‘Irish Night’ on March 3 featuring Irish folk and country band ‘The Blarneys’. The event will celebrate traditional Irish music and although there is currently availability in the restaurant, people are advised to book early to avoid disappointment.

“The first couple of months of the year are always a little bit dreary for people with the excitement of Christmas over, bad weather and long, dark nights but hopefully our entertainment programme will help pick them up a little and make the evenings pass a little more pleasantly until those lovely spring evenings appear” said landlord Paul Ryan.

One of Brentwood’s best-loved pubs, The Green Man at Herongate has everything its customers are looking for in a local from exposed wooden beams, large open fires, comfort food, fine wines, ales and lagers, and 500 years’ of history. As a result of its gastronomic success, the pub is gaining a reputation far and wide for great food and regularly welcomes diners from much further afield.

In summer time, the pub has the added advantage of a stunning, award-winning garden, complete with pond and waterfall, which allows customers to enjoy the warmer temperatures.
