Valentine's Day is drawing closer, and with it the usual 'what can I do to show him/her I care without bankrupting myself' quandary. We've all been there... so soon after Christmas, you would love to go on a romantic break but the bank balance simply won't allow it.

Homemade red pepper and tomato soup, served with crusty bread

Pan seared scallops, wrapped in pancetta on a bed of cherry tomato and black olive salsa

Chicken satay with peanut sauce, on a bed of crisp salad

Mozzarella and basil stuffed mushrooms 

Main courses

T-bone of veal, served with thick cut chips, mushrooms, onions and grilled tomato

Individual Beef Wellington, stuffed with cream cheese and paté, served with root vegetable mash and a rich, red wine sauce

Breast of chicken wrapped in Parma ham and parmesan, and served with new potatoes and balsamic rocket

Grilled fillet of sea bass with sizzled ginger, chilli and spring onions, on a bed of jasmine rice

Roasted mixed pepper, red onion and mushroom tart, served crushed garlic and rosemary potatoes and mange tout

Dessert

'Lovers Medley' – a selection of fruit tartlet, banoffee pie, strawberry cheesecake and chocolate Marquise, served with fresh cream

Plus, as an added treat, cabaret and soul band, 'Handle with Care' will be playing on the Saturday; having played at a private function at The Green Man Herongate last year, they proved so popular that they have been invited back to perform a special Valentine's session.
