Valentine's Day is drawing closer, and with it the usual 'what can I do to show him/her I care without bankrupting myself' quandary. We've all been there... so soon after Christmas, you would love to go on a romantic break but the bank balance simply won't allow it.
However, there is another option; for less than £50 per couple, you can enjoy a delicious three course meal at Brentwood inn, The Green Man Herongate on Valentine's Day itself, or if you can't make the 14th, by pre-booking on Friday 15 and Saturday 16th February.
For just £24.95 per person, choose from:
Homemade red pepper and tomato soup, served with crusty bread
Pan seared scallops, wrapped in pancetta on a bed of cherry tomato and black olive salsa
Chicken satay with peanut sauce, on a bed of crisp salad
Mozzarella and basil stuffed mushrooms
T-bone of veal, served with thick cut chips, mushrooms, onions and grilled tomato
Individual Beef Wellington, stuffed with cream cheese and paté, served with root vegetable mash and a rich, red wine sauce
Breast of chicken wrapped in Parma ham and parmesan, and served with new potatoes and balsamic rocket
Grilled fillet of sea bass with sizzled ginger, chilli and spring onions, on a bed of jasmine rice
Roasted mixed pepper, red onion and mushroom tart, served crushed garlic and rosemary potatoes and mange tout
'Lovers Medley' – a selection of fruit tartlet, banoffee pie, strawberry cheesecake and chocolate Marquise, served with fresh cream
Plus, as an added treat, cabaret and soul band, 'Handle with Care' will be playing on the Saturday; having played at a private function at The Green Man Herongate last year, they proved so popular that they have been invited back to perform a special Valentine's session.
Of course, not everyone enjoys going out on Valentine's Day. But remember – just because you're not in the 'loving' mood this February, there's no reason not to visit The Green Man Herongate! The Brentwood inn has a fantastic special offer running until February 28th – two courses for the price of one.
Plus there are plenty of events taking place at the pub, including a Soul and Motown Disco evening on March 2nd, and The Blarneys celebrating St Patrick's Day on March 16th.
