On Thursday 6th August from 2.30pm – 4.30pm, Care UK’s Mayfield View will open its doors to families and neighbours for a food festival, inviting guests to tuck in and celebrate the nation’s shared love of great cuisine, community and connection.
Visitors to the Lower Railway Road home can look forward to an all around the world-themed food festival, brought to life by handmade recycled bunting and a wooden recycled food cart.
Guests will be able to enjoy an array of dishes from different corners of the world, inspired by residents and team members' favorite dishes, including Poloo, Yema, Samosas and mango lassi’s all prepared by the home’s Head Chef, Kian Tscherniga.
Resident, Diana, said: “I am really looking forward to sampling lots of flavours from around the world which remind me of travelling with my husband.”
The event is part of the ‘A Taste of Home’ initiative, which will see all Care UK homes host foodie-themed celebrations and showcase what life in a care home is really like.
Each festival will showcase sustainable, community-focused initiatives while celebrating the diversity and creativity within the homes, from residents’ favourite recipes and traditional dishes to seasonal menus featuring locally sourced ingredients.
Katie Cliff, Home Manager at Mayfield View, said: “We’re so excited to host our very own food festival, which promises to be a memorable day for everyone who comes along.
“At Mayfield View, we’re home to residents and team members from a wonderfully diverse range of cultures. This event is a chance to celebrate them through food, showcasing flavours from Ghana, The Philippines, Romania, Egypt and Eastern Europe. Many are favourites of ours, so we can’t wait for guests to try.
“We look forward to welcoming the Ilkley community for what promises to be a fantastic day of food, culture and connection.”
