... or, more accurately, I've already BEEN back.

First visited this Hotel in June last year, when I rated it 4 out of 5 stars with one or two little issues requiring attention. On this visit, I'm delighted to see that every one of them had been totally resolved. I think it's always indicative when you go back somewhere that substantially the same team are in place as last time - in this case it's blatantly obvious that Eric (the Manager) has built a happy team and this is very apparent in the attitude shown towards guests. Every single member of the team with whom I had contact was unfailingly cheerful and upbeat.

Singling out one particular person, I must mention Melissa on Reception (aka Miss "I-blush-ever-so-easily"!!). Even before we arrived, she had set the tone for the visit with a quietly efficient correction to the booking (the website decided that despite entering 2 guests, I would be there on my own). Throughout our stay, Melissa was unwaveringly helpful and really went out of her way to present a most professional and welcoming 'front-of-house' presence. I'd be pleased to hear that her efforts had been recognised officially as well as by myself and my Social Director (Mrs ProPhotos).

Both Louise (evening) and the Breakfast Staff, whose names I didn't manage to acquire, were thoroughly efficient and most pleasant to deal with. Again, considerable assets to the Hotel and to Accor Group in general.

With all the preceding in mind, I have no hesitation in upgrading the previous review to 5 stars. An admirable example of this type of Hotel and one to which we will return again and again without hesitation. It is not, and is not intended to be, one of those overly plush places intended to pander to the self-obsessed and staffed by obsequious minions. Rather, the ambience is business-like and comfortable with staff who make the ordinary guest feel at ease and able to enjoy their stay.

As the title of the review says, I'll be back.

Excellent value for money in a comfortable hotel with friendly staff in country location, not too far from amenities.

New part of hotel nicely done, however the traditional building has not been used to its full potential with no original features giving it a cold feeling.

No room service menu in room as far as i could see.

Stayed here for 3 nights last weekend as part of a coach tour. Staff and food were very good but oh the mattress on our bed. It was the worst bed I have slept on. Awoke the first morning with an ache which went away, the second morning the same thing. Third morning was worse. When you turned over in bed the mattress springs played a tune, twanging. I brought this up with reception on departure and was told that new mattresses were on order, not a moment too soon. Had there not been a problem with the mattress I would have awarded 4 stars as apart from that we were very satisfied. (room 437)

My husband & myself would definitely recommend this hotel if you are looking for somewhere to hold your special day! Just for starters the hotel is spotless, the grounds for photos are beautiful, ( even though we had a windy day & I almost took off with my vale lol) but on the serious side there are a few members of staff that we would like to give a special thank you to Marie jolly (you are our little diamond) this lady & hotel come recommended to myself & husband when we was looking for our venue! From the day we met she was there night or day to answer any questions a bridezilla may have, every meeting Marie is very professional yet so down to earth & very easy to talk too! Even there on our day making sure everything went to plan, we also had the pleasure of meeting Carl spears, a true gent! Carl was my little rock there at the right time knowing what to say & do ( a cheeky half of larger before the service to keep me sane) & again throughout the whole day & night making sure everything was amazing ( which it was ) nothing was to much trouble, Joanna on the reception desk was so lovely sorting all the rooms out & putting up with some demanding request still with a big smile, & to the other staff who we didn't manage to get there names!! Bar staff, waiting on staff, cleaners for our swans n fruit, you work so hard, a big thank you from the bride & groom & we are sure we can speak for all our familys & friends too! If you compare the hotel to the Devere Whites which is located round the corner it is very poor value for money if I had booked in advance like I did for the Georgian house I could of got a double room for at least £20 pound cheaper also the food is very exspensive I think something like £16.95 per person for a room service breakfast is a bit of a rip off I mean who in there right mind wants to pay over £30 pound for two breakfast I think also a bacon bap was £7.25 when you compare that to a full breakfast at the Devere Whites hotel costing £7.50 you know it's not very good value at all + there was signs that i noticed in my room saying I could upgrade to a superior room with superior beds well i don't know about you when I have payed £70 for a room I don't want a sign up in it saying the beds are rubbish

A 3 night stay on business in the Bolton area found me back at the Mercure Georgian House hotel. I have stayed here several times before, on average once every 3 months, but this was the first time I was able to experience the upgraded premium rooms and the hotel-wide free Wi-Fi service now available.

I had booked the premium room, as for a little extra money this offers a lot more space and free movies and wired Internet, along with an in-room Nespresso coffee machine, towelling robe and slippers.

I was given the Rivenhall suite - room 770 towards the rear of the hotel. I have stayed in this room before, but the new decor, new bed and other added facilities in the room have certainly given a new look and feel to the same space. One of the nicest touches (see photo) was having a real living plant in the room on the work desk (I named it George after the Georgian House hotel where "he" lives <|8¬). Something so simple but made the room feel far less sterile and "hotel room" like.

Due to work pressures during this visit I did not get a chance to use the pool or leisure facilities at the hotel sadly, but have done so in the past and found them to be really good.

Breakfast was excellent each day, and whilst the hotel was somewhat quiet so the food on display was not overly plentiful, the staff would get anything on request which was appreciated – and always fresh.

The bar staff were always helpful too, even serving well past 12:30am when returning after working late one night.

There was an additional unrecognised bar item on my bill that was quickly removed at checkout, and due to some confusion (partly my fault) I had been charged for 4 breakfasts even though I only stayed 3 nights, but this was also quickly refunded to my credit card after a quick call to the hotel a few days later.

This hotel is an excellent base for visiting the nearby hills and businesses in the Bolton and north west Manchester area, with excellent road access to both the nearby A6 and M61. The hotel has really/genuinely friendly and helpful staff, and if you can afford the little extra go for one of the new premium rooms with the additional benefits this offers. With the addition of hotel wide free Wi-Fi connectivity (replacing the paid for BTOpenzone service in the bar area only) and the other recent improvements in decor etc, all of my minor issues and comments from previous visits have been addressed thank you.

I will be back, in around 3 months!

Managed to secure a very good rate for a weekend stay to visit family.
Room spotless, all the facilities worked, good breakfast, room completely suited our needs - indeed I have paid much more for far less.
Plenty of parking, bar good...perhaps best to describe as 'did exactly what it said on the tin'.
We'll be back - especially if we can secure a good rate again.

Stayed overnight for a family wedding, at a venue nearby, on a special rate for a Friday night, £86 in a twin room on the third floor with a slightly overhanging wall, causing early morning light to hit one of the beds, which were overly soft and spongy. Bar area ok and breakfast satisfactory. Parking good. Bathroom decent size especially when compared to the bedroom do not take the cat.

The double bedded room was compact but just about enough room for everything. Bathroom was OK but water pressure in the shower was poor. A small tube of shampoo and another of body-wash was provided which was nice as well as a small bar of soap. Reading light beside the bed was not bright enough to read by, a higher wattage bulb is required. Bed was comfortable and the room was clean. the TV was snowy, and there was no biscuit or drinking chocolate on the tray. Evening food in the restaurant was tasty put rather pricey for what it was. At breakfast there were insufficient tables set at 7:30 and people had to wait for a table. Coffee was good, fruit selection was limited. Fried eggs kept running out and were not replenished quickly enough, also no black pudding on the buffet which was a disappointment for a Lancashire hotel. however the food provided was of good quality and tasty.
