Just had my wedding reception at the Mercure Hotel. Just one word sums up the hotel, facilities and service - Fantastic. Thanks to Sue for organising everything and to Louise for running the wedding. The staff were brilliant and myself and my husband could not fault anything. Thank you so much for giving us a special day we will remember for the rest of our lives x

spent two days at this excellent hotel which was the venue for a two day residential conference. We return each year as this is such a good hotel. It is conveniently situated for travel being just a a couple of minute off the M61. Beware of the red camera next to the hotel. You are in 40 mph on the A6!!!
The reception is efficient and the rooms are clean and comfortable. I slept through the night without a problem which is unusual for me on the first night of a stay.

Breakfast and dinner are both well served. We had a limited menu as it was a conference package. But the food was always excellent. Also hot snacks can be bought from the bar or there is always room service. The bar prices are quite expensive but no more than I expect in a good hotel.

The staff are s joy. They are well mannered and so helpful. Thank you. The young people are well trained by an excellent senior management team. I would especially tank Bruno, Victor and the lady who cared for us a lunch on Tuesday to make sure every one was seated and fed..

There is also a pool with a gym for those who like abyss sly experience!

Though this was for a conference I would recommend it gif any occasion. It was sad to leave after a very good stay yet again. Thanks guys

Stayed here on my own for two nights as part of a coach tour visiting the Coronation Street Tour in Manchester. Though paying a single supplement, I had a very large room (321) with corner sofa. Good room, clean and well designed, bathroom large with bath and good shower, good towels, toiletries, very comfy bed, flatscreen tv. This room faced the busy road and at night I had to shut the windows because of the noise but quiet afterwards. Our tour was half-board, very good breakfast (buffet style) and three course evening meal, choice of starter and desert and buffet main, good food, good choice with glass of wine on the first night. I used the pool which was very good. Very friendly staff. Good parking. The bar prices were a bit expensive £8 for a large glass of wine.

It does not look very imposing from the outside, but what a difference when you step inside, a great find, ideally located for the nearby motorway, and shops near the Macron Arena.
Staff are genuinely friendly, rooms are well furnished and modern, comfy bed, walk in large shower (with a great pressure), restaurant was also very good, with a good variation in dishes

stayed here overnight on a coronation street tour. the room was bright and airy and very clean - asked for a twin room which we did get however the beds were pushed together and had to move a table and chair to be able to split the beds. breakfast was really nice and plenty to choose from. my only complaint was the price of the bar - glass of wine £5 ! other than that no complaints would stay there again .

My son and I used this as a stop over, picked due to it's location and car park size as we had a large boat in tow, the hotel was pretty average, clean, ok leisure facilities (although we couldn't find a member of staff and had to find our own towels), but generally ok however the staff in the hotel were really good, one lady at the bar opened the restaurant for my son and I as there was a wedding on and the bar was full, she couldn't do enough for us and the food we had was fantastic, really good quality, breakfast was pretty good, but dinner was amazing.

Wanting just an overnight stay and expecting an OK stopover we were very very pleasantly surprised.
The receptionist was most welcoming and exremely helpful in arranging taxis for us; the room was quiet, clean and fresh with comfortable beds and stunning views over the West Penine Moors.
Everything worked fine; absolutely nothing not to like and a very good price by booking (and paying) well in advance. (We were attending a family get together so didn't need to be flexible about arrangements).

Reception area looks nice and inviting but my experience of this hotel was spoiled by my experience in the room. The room was too hot even with the window open (which subjected us to road traffic noise), the beds were hard and uncomfortable and the bathroom door squeaked terribly (so no sneaking quietly to the loo).

A little tired around the edges the focus of the room seemed to be yo fit as many beds in as possible. With a double and two singles filling one side of the room. I got the impression it was used a lot by tradesmen working in the area based on the other guests and the inclination to accommodate as many people as possible into a room. The corridor smelt very strongly of swimming pool (situated on the floor below) the hotel and room were clean enough just a little dated.

The room faced the road so was noisy in the early evening.

Room service was punctual, both breakfast and evening meal were reasonable in quality if a little over priced for what you get.

I would probably be inclined to try somewhere else even opting for a B and B if I was in the area again to see how other accommodation differs.
