Recently spent 1 night here over a weekend. We were very impressed with this hotel, the staff were friendly and efficient and the public areas were nicely presented.

We had a room on the second floor, and found it to be spacious, well appointed and spotlessly clean.

A special mention should go to the restaurant, we ate an evening meal and highly impressed with the quality of the food and brilliant service. The breakfast was also good, with a good selection available on the buffet.

We look forward to staying here again, hopefully very soon

Stayed here for 3 nights in September for a short break. This could be a good hotel but it was seriously let down by the staff. Many of the people we came into contact with (when you could find them) either lacked knowledge of the hotel or were not trained for hotel work. The quality of food in the restaurant saved our stay.

The problems started with reception. There is never anyone at the desk and there is no contact bell. The only option is to shout 'hello' and someone might appear from round the back. We were told we had a view of the hills but when we got to the room it had a view of a roof. (staff knowledge lacking here). They did swap us to another room straight away. In that room the safe was broken and we had to get someone to fix it. Reception staff did not give us ANY information, such as directions to the room or breakfast times etc

The room itself was good but the safe did not work and we found blood spots on the bathroom floor and room carpet. TV channels were not as listed on the screen. There was no info in the room about leisure centre arrangements.

We were not told that we had to take the room towels to the pool (we had to ask). We were promised extra towels but they never turned up.

The leisure centre reception was abysmal. There are some 50 lockers which need a padlock (free from reception) to secure them. When we asked for a lock we were told "they are all out". There was about 6 people in the pool! When we said what do we do the receptionist just shrugged her shoulders in a disinterested manner! After we stared at her for a while she offered a key for a miniature valuables locker. In addition' there was no toilet paper in one of the female toilets, water cooler did not work. Jacuzzi broken and apparently has been for some time. The pool itself was very good.

Staff training was an issue in the restaurant too. We had an excellent meal, so good that we decided to eat there again (via room service this time) on another night. Restaurant service was poor. There were 3 couples in a restaurant that could seat perhaps 100 or more people. We ordered wine and water. The waiter rushed by and plonked the wine on the table unceremoniously, said something like "your wine" and headed off. No offer to open it, check if it was the right one etc. OK it has a screw top, but it would be nice to have a bit of ceremony with the service. We had to call the waiter back then to ask for water glasses. The food however was excellent - my compliments to the chef. At breakfast, a special mention for excellent service to Lydia who was very attentive and friendly.

Don't expect to get back into your room if you go out! On the second day and third day the keycards stopped working. Reception just shrugged and said "they keep doing that". Perhaps the problem should be fixed?

I ordered coffee in the bar, the menu said served with handmade shortbread. We didn't get the biscuit. When I asked we were told that they hadn't had any for a while but the waitress said "but I've brought some in myself. She returned with chocolate digestives. A special mention here for Irene in the bar but what sort of management leaves the bar staff to provide things that the hotel should be doing.

It is a shame because the hotel has all the facilities but it needs the staff to be more knowledgeable and better trained. It was a bit reminiscent of Fawlty Towers unfortunately. Would I return, probably not.

We had been booked at the Mercure Last Drop, however on Arrival they had overbooked themselves and after a bit of negotiation we were relocated to here. Whilst not the swankiest rooms in the world we had a great stay. Extra special praise should go the lady (duty manager?) on duty that night who provided truly exceptional customer service. Nothing was too much trouble as she sorted out our party of 8, gave us a private room to eat in, and even decorated it herself for us. She totally rescued the day! The food was much better than expected, and beds comfortable.
It was Saturday 12th October we stayed - management please take note - you have a star employee here!

Stayed here for a weekend in October. The hotel is well located for most Lancashire towns also Blackpool, Manchester and Liverpool.

Close to the Reebok Stadium with shopping outlets, restaurants and fuel.

The hotel is a good standard with plenty of parking but a little remote. There are 2 real ale pubs within 10 minutes walking distance both do food.

The hotel rooms are well appionted with tea making facilities and tv although our tv had a poor picture quality.

If you get a rear view room you get to look over Rivington Pike aerial and the pennines it sits on assuming your window isn't covered in condensation like ours!

The breakfast buffet is very nice but the breakfast room was absolutely baking hot and airless. On both mornings the fruit juice jugs were empty where they had not been kept topped up. Amazingly the toaster actually toasts the bread turning it completly from white to golden toast.

Like any hotel the bar prices are steep and there is no real ale so better to do your drinking in the local pubs.

Would consider going back as it is located close to where relatives live.

Stayed here in early October due to a book out from De Vere Whites down the road.
A basic hotel with decent amenities although does look to offer value with inclusions such as complimentary wifi and use of leisure facilities. on-site.
Evening meal was surprisingly good considering the 3* rating of the hotel. Staff were pleasant although sometimes missing in action from the reception area and restaurant. Breakfast did not reach the same standards as the evening meal in terms of quality or choice.

Stayed now twice at this hotel and very satisfied. The staff are brilliant; very friendly and helpful.
The rooms are of good size and extremely clean and comfortable. The bed was very comfortable and so had a good nights sleep after a long drive and a day at work.
First night i dined out, but had the breakfast which was very good with a selection of basically everything available. I'm staying at the hotel for the second time in two weeks whilst I write this review, and this time the room is enormous and extremely clean and comfortable, with the staff again very friendly and helpful.
Will definitely be coming back when next in the area.

Good-
Excellent value for money (£50 each for one night including an evening meal, breakfast and full access to the gym and spa facilities).
Spacious and modern room with a bath/shower and television.
The food in the restaurant was lovely and the choice at breakfast was great!
All of the staff were all lovely and polite.

Bad-
The Jacuzzi wasn't working properly and would only switch on in small intervals.
The door of the sauna in the female changing rooms wouldn't close properly so all the heat was being let out which was a shame.
When you book it says in the description that you get a 3 course d'hote dinner but doesn't explain that the choices are very limited. The menu you choose from only includes two different starters, two mains and two desserts. We didn't like either of the mains (tuna steak and chicken diane) so the other option was to choose a meal from the main menu up to the value of £22.00 each. If you go over £22.00 you will pay the extra before you leave at checkout. We didn't mind doing this but if you were looking forward to a 3 course meal then you would be quite disappointed. For our £22.00 each, we ended up getting a starter and main each. Both courses were lovely and the portions were huge! The only recommendation we have would be to add a couple of extra choices to the menu for guest who are staying under a package deal at the hotel.

Apart from this, we can't complain because for the £50.00 each it is excellent value for money! If we ever fancy a little break away again, we will definitely consider coming back here!

This is a good business hotel to stay in if you are traveling in the NW. Clean and well kept with a good breakfast buffet.

Don't be fooled by the "Georgian" title most of the accommodation is in modern, lodge style blocks. A conference venue not a wedding venue really.

stayed here for a night dinner bed and breakfast via a red letter voucher. on the whole a nice stay, room clean, not very spacious but fine, some parts of hotel need a bit of an upgrade to décor etc, slightly dated. staff seem very attentive, if a little slow at dinner, the dinner room is quite sparse and not very restaurant like, but the food was really lovely. Again good choice at breakfast but very slow staff, especially with the tea and coffee. swimming pool area is very nice too.
