Members of Bloomfield Over 50's Club in 2 coaches visited Olympus Restaurant yesterday for a lovely 2 course fish & chips lunch & delicious cream tea.Absolutely fab. good food, friendly & helpful staff providing an efficient service. Thoroughly recommended.

Members of Bloomfield Over 50's Club in 2 coaches visited the Olympus Restaurant Bolton for a plentiful lovely 2 course fish & chips lunch and a delicious cream tea. Excellent service from the friendly and helpful staff. Thoroughly recommend. Thanks to Tasos and his staff for helping to make our day to Bury Market such a success.

Unexpected pre-theatre bonus!
We hoped to find a quick bite to eat before theatre and stumbled upon this gem!
Spotlessly clean, great welcome and service, freshly cooked, gorgeous good all accompanied by beautiful music played on a grand piano.
Can't wait to return and booking our theatre trip JUST to come back for dinner!

I've been visiting Bolton for years and amazingly have never noticed this place especially as it's huge. Was invited to a family 60th and was impressed with the place the minute I walked in. The largest and poshest chippy I've ever been in.
However that's where the good review ends. Ok , the service was fantastic but we are talking about food and it was massively overpriced for what you got. I had the special , which was a very small fish and a few chips. It came with a side of mushy peas which I don't like so I was able to change this for gravy which was thin and tasteless and looked like dirty dishwater . Can't fault the taste of the haddock and chips but overall just too small portions and too high a price. I've been to Whitby a few times and their chippys wipe the floor with this place.

I’ve eaten here plenty of times over the years. Our last visit was a bit underwhelming but we thought we’d give it another chance.
The place was very quiet compared to the “old days” - and I think we found the reason why - it wasn’t that good!
The food arrived in record quick time indicating that it wasn’t freshly cooked to order. The food was somewhere between warm and hot and certainly wasn’t piping, or even very, hot - as it should be. By the time we’d got to the end (which didn’t take that long - see the paragraph below) the stuff was lukewarm.
OK there were several “bigger” options for fish available on the menu including one that was almost thirty quid!!!!! Surely this is some kind of joke? Anyway we opted for the standard sized option and it was, at best, adequate. At worst - small. I’d go as far as to say it was poor value for money.
There were a couple of big stains on the carpet near the loos. The place looks a bit grubby.
The upshot of all this is that we are very unlikely to return. It was all just a bit ‘sad’. I think the glory days are over for the Olympus.

Positives:
Waiter service and piano player were like going back in time. Spacious, immaculate toilets, home made pies, well cooked chips.
Negatives:
Over priced, the waiters don't take the orders so you have to queue, portion size small.
Overall:
Well worth a visit.

Visited this place for the first time at the weekend after walking past and seeing a 5 star food hygiene rating and it looked popular and inviting. We were not disappointed! We received a warm welcome and impeccable service. Food was delicious. Beautifully decorated for Xmas and made a lovely pre-Xmas treat for our family. Highly recommended!

Our visit with my Mum who does like her fish and chips was excellent. The "pensioners specials" was just the job for her and she pronounced the food the best fish she'd had for a long time. Our was also lovely and fresh. Very busy with a piano player too.
