We stayed for one night having driven down from Inverness. We received a very warm welcome from the receptionist, sorry cannot remember her name, but was originally from Portugal. Our room was clean, no issues with the bathroom and the bed was comfortable. We dined in the bar and was looked after by Irene( what a star) who looked after us brilliantly. The food, albeit a bit on the expensive side was tasty and enjoyable as was the conversation with Irene. This hotel fits its 3 star rating only because it needs a bit of an upgrade but the staff definitely 5 star.

My friend and I ate in the modern bar area and had soup and sandwich, which were very tasty. The highlight of the afternoon was the friendly, attentive service from Irene. We will return after checking she is there.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my stay here.
The pool there isn't to cold not to warm, the Jacuzzi is pleasant to sit and relax in both of the waters are checked regularly which strengthens my confidence in the pools cleanliness, further more the steam room is very relaxing and warm.
In addition, it also provides a gym which I personally believe provides plenty of equipment.
I also have enjoyed the food which I have had the breakfast which is my favoured meal there, however the dinner menu haves a selection of all tasty food which almost if not all have my recommendation.
I have had the privilege to of used different designs of rooms there, and have Not been disappointed by any of them.
The staff that work there are very nice and they have brought me daily smiles among my visits.

My sister & I visited the hotel today 1st November 2023 to have lunch in the bar area.
I just have to say that IRENE gave us excellent service, she was so attentive & lovely waiting on us & making sure everything was just right for us.
Hey forget all these fancy coffee shops , you honestly get better service at the Mercure hotel & especially if Irene is working , she really does look after you!!
She & the hotel definitely deserve 5*****

I went to the ladies night event on 4 November, what a great night it was!!
The drag queen had us all in stitches and Male entertainers certainly didn't let us down!! A super friendly welcoming place.
Great bar service too, all set in a beautiful setting of this gorgeous hotel.
Can't wait for the next event.

We would just like to praise the service we received when using the conference facilities!
Itâs a great location and the conference facilities are excellent
We canât praise enough the support we receive from Julie
She is always incredibly helpful, responds quickly to any requests and always takes time to have a laugh and joke with us !

We travelled here as a group and have to say we received amazing service from check-in to check out. The hotel rooms are dated but clean and welcoming, sheet and pillow clean and changed daily, the breakfast was good and nice selection, staff were all very accommodating and friendly. The bar area is comfortable and good food served ,, the bar staff we friendly and helpful for our group booking arriving at different time. Would recommend staying here.

Friendly staff. Decent sized car park. Comfortable bed. Large room but so dated.
Vintage bathroom, misfitting carpet, tatty decor, old wooden wardrobes and cupboards, no power sockets near the bed for phones etc. Please see the attached photos.

Iâve reluctantly rated this average because of the building. Itâs a large hotel desperately in need of refurbishing. Old worn carpets and scuffed walls and doors everywhere. A rather stark bar area - no comfortable sofas other than in a narrow corridor facing the lavatories.
Pool not suitable for hotel residents - classes for children always taking place and are very noisy. Had to duck floats and various other swimming toys when trying to have relaxing swim. Itâs a community pool and shouldnât be advertised for residents. Pool itself is a good size. Changing rooms are dire.
Now on the plus side; the suites are okay - small but adequate sitting area and nice shower room. Breakfast room is fine. Bedrooms vary - but need an upgrade.
The great thing that makes me want to return are the excellent staff. Jimmy sorted out a problem with my room printout and efficiently and compensated me with a glass of wine while I was waiting. Reception staff were very good - Claire in particular - and sorted out a complicated booking. Lydia at breakfast was so helpful and friendly, Irene who works in the bar during the day is the loveliest lady who will do whatever she can to help. And I canât forget âBovrilâ who seems to be everywhere.
Message to the owners - you have a great staff team, the best, spend some money and give them an hotel to be proud to work in.

Had a lovely stay, breakfast great! Lots to choose from and hot buffet food at breakfast was delicious. The chickpea curry at evening meal time, credit to the chef it was absolutely delicious!
Bed very comfy but the bed covers were scratchy and not soft, however I slept well mostly
Irene behind the bar very lovely and welcoming. Two of the staff at breakfast also lovely and a warm welcome received, however there was one member of staff (I wonât name them) who was grumpy and didnât seem very helpful, seemed to much to ask for a refill of the jug of tap water.
Overall I had a lovely stay and I would come back again
