Eric spent 31 years in the regional press with Newsquest Media Group running various newpaper groups in Cheshire, West London and latterley Lancashire where he spent the last 9 years as MD of the Bolton Evening News Group. During his time in newspapers, Eric also worked for the infamous newspaper entrepreneur "Eddie Shah" who was well known launching the UK's first full colour newspaper "Today" and for taking on the print unions which resulted in the introduction of new technology which revolutionised the industry.

Other activities have included: director of Wire FM and Bolton FM radio stations; board of Business Link Warrington; governor of Priestley College Warrington; board of University of Bolton; Variety Club Children's Charity Commitee (Bolton); Young Enterprise Commitee (Bolton); Kim Bassinger Appreciation Society..!!

Eric's interests are Karate (2nd dan Black Belt); playing blues guitar and flamenco guitar; watching Warrington Wolves and Bolton Wanderers and learning Spanish
