The University of Bolton offers a wide range of full and part time courses. This modern university has a student body of over 11,000 and is in a handy location close to the town centre.

 History

The University of Bolton was first granted university status in 2005. However the institution first started providing educational courses in 1824 as a mechanical college.

In 2012 the University of Bolton opened two new buildings, a purpose built moot law court and, in partnership with Bolton Council and NHS Bolton, Bolton One. Bolton one has an athlete development centre, climbing wall, research facilities in health and well-being and a sports and spinal injury centre. These services are open to the public as well as research staff and students.  

In 2013 the University of Bolton opened its business school for businsss, law, accountancy and Islamic finance studies. Other facilities are planned for the future, including a centre for advanced performance engineering.

The University now has over 11,000 students enrolled on its campuses in the UK and abroad (there are programmes in the United Arab Emirates, China, Hong King, Malaysia, Singapore, Vietnam, Zambia, Malawi, Russia, Greece and Germany.)


Courses

Over 30 of the courses that the University of Bolton offer are professionally accredited and modules are geared towards knowledge and skills that are relevant and important in the wider working world. The university has partnerships with the British psychological Society, Nursing and Midwifery Council and Chartered Institute Organisations.

The University has a wide ranging academic portfolio with courses on offer ranging from access and foundation level to undergraduate certificates, diplomas, degrees and postgraduate masters and doctorates.

The University offers foundation level, undergraduate, post graduate, diplomas and doctorate courses. Many of these are flexible, meaning you can study them either full or part time.


Facilities

The learning doesn’t stop at the University of Bolton once lectures have finished for the day. The University has a thriving students union, which are always organising theme nights, nights out and clubs and societies you can join in with. On site there’s a good choice of eateries and the sport facilities are excellent too, including netball, hockey and football. They play all over the North West and new players are always welcome.

There’s free wi-fi everywhere on campus, the library is open 6 days a week and there’s a 24 hour computer room, meaning you’ll never miss a deadline again.

The student support services will look after you if you’ve got a problem in your academic or personal life, so you’re never alone whilst you’re studying at the University of Bolton.
