Bolton CVS stands for "Bolton Community and Voluntary Services." It was known as the Bolton District Council for Voluntary Service but this generated too many complaints about bins not being collected! The name change became official on 21st November 2006. In other areas, similar Local Infrastructure Organisations (LIO) are called "Council for Voluntary Service", "Voluntary Action", or "Third Sector Coalition". Bolton CVS Provides a range of information through our newsletter, our website, our information leaflets and email communications; Provides advice and support to help your organisation find and apply for funding; Provides learning and personal development opportunities on a wide range of subjects; Supports a range of forums to maintain strong channels of communication between voluntary and community groups and local statutory organisations such as Bolton Council, the NHS and local funders; Supports volunteers and promotes good practice to volunteer involving organisations.
