Came here on Friday night and the food is excellent. The place is spotlessly clean and service was attentive but not in your face. Drinks are not ridiculously priced and I highly recommend you visit .

Delicious food and friendly service

We came today and the food was really tasty and Service was lovley. Thevpaw bhaji in particular was amazing just as it should be. Clean and lovley atmosphere. Thank you.

As a regular at this establishment I can honestly say under new management this place is really going places. Well what can I say.?
Food. The curries are to die for. We had the chicken shahi and an amasing Biryani which comes with a mild vegetable sauce. And the portions are massive so can easily be shared between 2 or 3 people. Don't skip the seekh kebabs they're super tasty.
Service. The service as really improved. The staff are very polite and attentive to your requests and provide a friendly subtle experience without being overwhelming. The new manager even stopped by our table for a quick chat and actually listens and takes on board criticism. You can tell hes got that hospitality experience that perhaps wasn't there before.
Atmosphere. The place as recently undergone renovation. And boy as it made the difference. It's now much more open and inviting. And after a quick chat with management there's deffo more to come this place isn't sitting down. I Can absolutely recommend you take a trip into this place next time your in Bolton to experience it's new fresh feel.

This meal was a masterclass in the balance between delicate aromatics and robust, clay-oven char. From the initial crunch of the appetizers to the rich, slow-cooked depths of the mains, the progression of flavors was expertly handled.
The Starters: Texture and Smoke
The meal opened with a classic contrast in styles. The Onion Bhajis were golden and structurally perfect—shatteringly crisp on the outside while maintaining a soft, spiced center where the sweetness of the onions could really shine.
The Lamb Chops, however, were the tactical highlight of the first course. Marinated in a potent blend of ginger, garlic, and garam masala, they bore the unmistakable smoky "kiss" of the tandoor. The meat remained succulent, pulling away from the bone with minimal effort, proving that high-heat cooking doesn't have to mean sacrificing tenderness.
The Mains: The Smooth and the Savory
The transition to the main courses offered a beautiful study in sauce construction.
* Butter Chicken: This was the soul of the meal. The gravy was silk personified—rich, tomato-based, and finished with enough cream and butter to make it indulgent without feeling heavy. The subtle hint of dried fenugreek (kasuri methi) provided a floral backnote that cut through the richness.
* Lamb Handi: In stark contrast to the Butter Chicken, the Lamb Handi offered a more rustic, deep-flavored experience. Cooked in the traditional vessel style, the sauce was thicker and more concentrated, highlighting the earthy notes of black cardamom and browned onions. The lamb had clearly been slow-simmered, absorbing the intense spice profile of the gravy.
The Verdict
The pairing of the creamy, mild Butter Chicken with the more assertive, spice-forward Lamb Handi created a balanced palate. It was a meal that respected tradition while executing the basics with high technical skill.
Highlights:
* The "snap" of the Onion Bhaji.
* The smoky depth of the Lamb Chops.
* The velvet-like consistency of the Butter Chicken sauce.

2nd visit and will return. Worth the 26 miles round trip for this restaurant that is in a great area for bars with an easy going and chilled vibe. Food served fresh, hot, tasty. Quality ingredients used and waiter asked what level of spice we preferred. Service excellent as it the setting and decor. Highly recommended.

We usually go to the other Spice & Spirits on the outskirts of Bolton, but wanted to check out the new venue in the centre and were no disappointed! A little quiet as it was midweek, but we received amazing customer service - big shout out to Mandeep for being so friendly and welcoming along with really tasty food. The menu is more mixed than curry specific but everything we ate tasted amazing - which coming from a vegetarian curry fan says it all 😁 We'll definitely be coming back again - thoroughly recommend 🙏🏻🙏🏻

Exceptional value! Fantastic food! Lovely, quirky place! Staff went above and beyond and were extremely helpful and friendly.
I would have given this amazing place 5 plus stars but the only thing that spoilt our evening was the owners son (I know this as he was loudly shouting this)
He came over to our table, extremely boisterous, asking "how are you lovely? What you gonna f###king order?" Took my menu off me, started reading it out to me?! He was bouncing all over the place and spilt some of his drink on my arm! Absolutely unacceptable behaviour and his presence and loudness made us all feel uncomfortable.
He later was removed for arguing with another customer at the bar, we all felt better after he'd gone!
The manager was lovely with us and I told him how rude and unacceptable his behaviour was. He was really understanding and apologetic about it.
Apart from that, we had a lovely evening and providing the owners son isn't there again, I would HIGHLY recommend this lovely place, food and staff!

Went to the Nelson Square restaurant last night (14/12/25) for a birthday celebration. I can only offer high praise for this restaurant, the manager was extremely attentive upon arrival showing us where we could park, as 2 of our party had blue badges. He even let us into the back door to avoid a longer walk round. We attended as an army of Groupon voucher holders, but this did not detract from the whole experience for us. The food and the included choice were excellent, and I mean excellent. There is an element of pan Asian choice and even a throw in of Pizza and Burger options. The curries we all had (as curry enthusiasts) were perfectly balanced on flavour and just right on portion size. The choice of the inclusive drink is also of good quality and not the bottom shelf provision that some Groupon vouchers provide. The women in our group found the red button in the toilet highly amusing. The only downside (which of course is not their fault) was that it was very quiet, and it lacked atmosphere; then again, the service we got as a result was almost as exclusive as it gets. If you read this, give Spices and Sprits a try, I think you will not be disappointed.

It was a last minute booking for my son’s birthday meal. The place is nice & comfortable, the service was outstanding, the food was top rate, very delicious and plenty of it. I would highly recommend. Like to say thank you so much to all the staff xx
