The location of this hotel is amazing, the atmosphere is warm and welcoming, The rooms are spotless with a bath and a shower plenty of tea, coffee, milk and sugar. The value for the rooms and food is well worth the value of money. The noise level is very quiet and also the service from the hotel employees is absolutely fantastic and you have a swimming pool, jacuzzi, steam room, sauna and treatment rooms would definitely recommend and come back again.

What a fantastic hotel. On arrival, the staff made us feel very welcome. The food was outstanding, the rooms cleaned to a very high standard. I also want to point out that Aziz provided a fantastic service, remembering things about us. This made our stay extra special. We won’t hesitate to book again when in the area. Thank you.

First of all, it’s such a stunning hotel with amazing facilities and makes for a great weekend away. When we arrived at check in the staff were polite and welcoming, advising us on where our room was located and prior to the stay, kept me up to date with any details regarding the booking. The room was upgraded to a quieter part of the hotel away from the function rooms, and this was perfect. I also opted for the valentines offer of balloons and chocolates and noted it was a birthday occasion. After a smooth check in we headed to our room and was shocked! The staff had ever lovingly wrote happy birthday on the mirror and beautifully decorated it and the bed with petals, balloons and chocolate. They definitely went above and beyond in their service. We had a spa session booked for 5pm and that all ran smoothly, the spa staff were extremely polite, calming and welcoming providing a brilliant service. The spa area was well kept and very tranquil. We headed back to our room to prep for our meal at 7pm. When we arrived to dine, Chloe our server was amazing. She explained everything throughly and was extremely professional and polite throughout and provided great table service. An absolute asset to the hotels team. I couldn’t fault the stay at all, the hotel was beautifully kept and extremely clean and all the staff were polite and friendly.

I am surprised by the 5* star reviews recently because when we went we didn't experience the quality others talked about. We stayed in a refurbished room (6) but found the coving damaged, holes in the bed linen and the overall room cold. We had to ask for a heater because we struggled with the radiators not working which we reported to the duty manager, it took them 1 hour to bring the heater. We had dinner at the hotel, the front of house staff especially Sofia were fantastic but the service in the kitchen was really slow. We were in the restaurant two and a half hours in total but we're told that they had coach trips in and that was the reason they were overwhelmed. It's a shame management hadn't managed this better with more kitchen staff at the time. The spa and leasure facilities needs the most money spent on them, the swimming pool was cold, the changing rooms damaged and dated and the overall look was shabby. Breakfast was fine but the selection was depleted at 9am because of the coaches that had been allocated first, missing bread, mushrooms and pastries. We asked for more but were told they had ran out, again bad planning on the managements part. All in all we wouldn't stay again and we would use another hotel chain when we book a similar experience.

All the staff at this Hotel were very friendly & helpful. Stand out were the retsaurant staff particulary in the evening, where a good understanding of my dietary needs was shown by our waitress Lilly.

The best part of this hotel was the front of house staff Sam, Julia, Chuti, Aziz, and a large gentleman whose name I can't remember but was most obviously one of the furniture.

The cleaning team, aside from one young blonde lady, were partial hit and mostly miss (Think cheap versions of Roomba vacuums, and using the same gloves for refilling coffee as they had on for the bathroom).

The room we were in was spacious and well appointed, and I can't fault that. The showers were hot once maintenance had reset them, and the bath was a nice addition.

The rest of the hotel requires significant attention, thought, and investment. It was formally seen as one of the most luxurious stately home stays in the North West of England, and many weddings and events were held there.

There is nowhere really for kids (Could do with a little park on the grounds, or even setting aside a room with play items in). Most of the side rooms are closed off, or locked down, and not much is going on the in restaurant (Not even a Sunday lunch, or a decent menu).

Breakfast is extra, as seems to be the case across most hotels in England these days, and so we didn't experience that. The menu itself in the restaurant (Needs a real review and refurb), and the bar area, is expensive and so we mainly Uber'd each evening.

We stayed for 2 weeks, and so got to know the place, and all-in-all Accor needs to really consider its life choices. I would say that this place requires a Northcote Manor approach, and could really be a destination hotel if someone at Accor HQ paid a glancing look in its direction.

We looked around the pool and gym, but didn't use as it felt like a conservatory add-on.

Please someone take this old dame, and breath life back into it again. It will rejuvenate the area, bring further steam and investment, and bring significant revenue to Accor.

I am just finishing an overnight stay here given as a present for my birthday. There are both positives and negatives for the hotel.
Positives. The drive up is impressive with outside looking very nice. There is extensive parking but some of it is a good walk away from the front entrance which might cause problems if you have mobility issues.. The staff are well mannered and courteous. The room was clean and well appointed. The water was hot and the bath as well as a shower was a bonus. The breakfast was adequate have had much better but also had worse.
Negatives. The whole of the hotel has a ‘lost’ feel. Many of the side rooms are locked up and not in use and the rooms are accessed along a labyrinth of corridors, stairs and lifts. The bar is very dark although parts of it are comfortable. The spa area is more like a local gym and leisure centre. The whole spa area needs refurbishment. The ladies lockers do not work and the spa area is lacklustre. The restaurant menu in the evening was both expensive and uninspired. Breakfast area was totally inadequate for the number of guests in the hotel and had a real school canteen feel about it. There is one coffee machine for all the guests perhaps investing in just one more might help the situation
Reflection. When you go to a spa hotel you go for pampering and a feeling of luxury. If that is what you want go elsewhere.
