Blackburn Cathedral invites visitors to a special Bell Ringing Open Day on Saturday 14th February 2026, offering a rare behind the scenes look at its famous Cathedral bells.
From 10.00am to 3.30pm, guests can meet the cathedral’s bellringers, learn about the history and craft of bell ringing, and even try their hand at ringing handbells. Introductory talks will explain what is involved in ringing, and those inspired to take the first steps can find out how to join the team.
A highlight of the day is the opportunity to climb the steps of the Bell Tower to see and hear the bells in action. Please note that access to the tower involves steep steps and confined spaces. Restrictions may apply.
The activity is open to those aged 8 and over. Under 16s must be accompanied by an adult.
