A care home in Wolverhampton is embracing the yuletide season by opening its doors for a special reminiscence event.

Care UK’s Foxland Grange on Wergs Road is inviting people to revisit traditions from Christmas past by joining residents and team members for its event on Wednesday 10th December from 6pm-7pm.

The event is part of Care UK’s “Step into Christmas” initiative, which aims to rekindle Christmas customs that residents remember from their childhood by reliving them and sharing them with the local community.

To bring festive cheer to the community, Foxland Grange will be hosting a carolling session, led by Arjun’s Christmas choir, with locals invited to join residents in singing some of their favourite festive carols.

93-year-old resident, Margaret Yardley, said: “I’m really looking forward to this event! Carol singing is one of my favourite Christmas traditions, and I really enjoyed it when I was younger. I remember the neighbours gathering in the streets and singing together. It truly was the Christmas cheer that marked the start of the season, making it feel so magical as a child.”

Katy Anderson, Home Manager at Foxland Grange, said: “For many residents here, carols are cherished songs from their own childhood and sharing them with the community is a beautiful way to keep tradition alive.

“This is also a wonderful opportunity to unite the community and celebrate the season.

“We’d like to encourage the local community to join us, together, to celebrate the festive season and bring the memories of Christmas past to Wolverhampton.”
