Care UK’s Bishops Manor, on Jockey Road, will be opening its doors to families and neighbours for a food festival, inviting guests to tuck in and celebrate the nation’s shared love of great cuisine, community and connection.
On Thursday 6th August from 11am-12.30pm, visitors can look forward to an Italian-themed celebration, where the home’s head chef, Scott Clarke, will prepare a selection of dishes inspired by residents’ favourite foods, using fresh herbs grown in the garden.
Resident Pat Millington said: “I’ve always loved Italian food, I’m really looking forward to getting a chef hat on and making my own pizza with the other residents.”
The event is part of the ‘A Taste of Home’ initiative, which will see all Care UK homes host foodie-themed celebrations and showcase what life in a care home is really like.
Each festival will showcase sustainable, community-focused initiatives while celebrating the diversity and creativity within the homes, from residents’ favourite recipes and traditional dishes to seasonal menus featuring locally sourced ingredients.
Jody Sedgwick, Home Manager at Bishops Manor, said: “We’re delighted to be welcoming the local community to our very own food festival where residents will be rolling up their sleeves to make pizzas.
“We are part of a strong community here in Sutton Coldfield, and days like this are a wonderful way of bringing people together to celebrate our shared love of food, while giving residents the opportunity to share their favourite recipes with others. We can’t wait to welcome everyone to sample Scott’s Italian offerings, so join us for what is set to be an event to remember.”
