Young explorers are being invited to help launch Peppa Pig into space this summer, as the NEC prepares for the popular character’s first-ever real-life galactic mission.
On Thursday 30 July, families are invited to NEC Lakeside – home of PEPPA PIG Space Adventure - to watch an exclusive screening of Peppa’s journey, as she soars to altitudes exceeding 100,000 feet, before floating above the planet’s atmosphere. The screening will begin at 11am, with doors to the event opening from 9.30am.
The once-in-a-lifetime event will give children the chance to immerse themselves in an exciting real-world story, starting with Peppa’s space travel preparations, followed by visuals from the launch and live-tracking her journey beyond Earth’s atmosphere.
The interactive experience welcomes young explorers to become part of the mission, receiving regular updates throughout Peppa’s unique voyage.
On the day, families will be invited to wave hello to Peppa to welcome her home after she returns from her voyage, as well as take part in an interactive space‑themed activity led by Leicester Space Centre. Children can also step into the spotlight during a special astronaut training session, equipping them with everything they need for their space mission.
Alongside the screening, young explorers will also get the chance to create their own spacecraft in a rocket building workshop led by The Creation Station, designed to spark creativity and inspire budding astronauts.
The official space launch is a special one-time addition to PEPPA PIG Space Adventure, a hands-on walk-through experience at the NEC, where each room tells a story and little explorers are encouraged to play, discover and join the fun. Pre-schoolers and Peppa fans are invited to step inside Peppa's home, exploring different rooms from Evie’s nursery to the playroom, before using their imaginations to blast off into space to land on the surface of the moon.
Children will also have the chance to design a rocket for Peppa, with a new competition inviting young artists to submit their own rocket designs.
Children can create their own original artwork or download a template to help imaginations take flight. All entries can be submitted online via peppapigspaceadventure.co.uk/competition * before Tuesday 1 September.
Each entrant will receive a 10% discount code for PEPPA PIG Space Adventure, with one lucky family winning tickets to an NEC event.
Sarah Harvey, Deputy CEO at the NEC, said: “Peppa Pig is such a well‑loved character for families across the Midlands, so we’re thrilled to bring her first-ever real-world space mission to life this summer.
“The Lakeside Cinema screening, rocket‑building workshop and our design a rocket competition all give young explorers the chance to get hands-on, be creative and feel part of Peppa’s big adventure.
“We can’t wait to welcome families for a day that’s full of imagination and discovery, with even more fun to be had at PEPPA PIG Space Adventure at the NEC.”
