Christine McVie (nee Perfect) was invited to join Fleetwood Mac in 1970 after marrying John McVie the previous year. Brought up in Bearwood, she studied sculpture at Moseley School of Art where she met Stan Webb and Andy Sylvester and formed Sounds of Blue. On 16 October 1964 they performed at King's Heath's old Ritz Ballroom and shared the bill with The King Bees featuring Carl Palmer who later became one third of Emerson, Lake and Palmer. After the break up of Sounds of Blue she joined Stan Webb in Chicken Shack who played their first ever gig at the Ritz Ballroom on Saturday 31 December 1966. They went onto have a hit with "I'd Rather Go Blind" featuring Christine on vocals. After marrying Fleetwood Mac's John Mc Vie she left Chicken Shack as she did not want to be touring separately from her husband. She was then invited to join Fleetwood Mac, designed the front cover of their album"Kiln House" and wrote or co-wrote "Say You Love Me", "Don't Stop"< "Everywhere" and "Little Lies". Unfortunately, she died of a stroke on 30 November 2022 but her musical legacy lives on.
Fleetwood Mad are a sensational and exciting band recreating an authentic Fleetwood Mac experience.
They are returning after last year's sold out show had the capacity audience dancing on every part of the large dance floor.
Created out of a passion for Fleetwood Mac and their music, Fleetwood Mad quickly secured their place as one of the "must see" Fleetwood Mac bands. With a huge flashback to the Peter Green era plus all of the other big hits from Rumours onwards (along with great visuals and costume changes of course) Fleetwood Mad take you on a 2-hour theatrical journey exploring the magic of Fleetwood Mac!
"A capacity audience, some of the best known songs in the rock cannon and a good live band all combined for a memorable concert when Fleetwood Mad played at Lichfield Guildhall" (Lichfield Live Review)
Don't miss out on another memorable evening of live music in King's Heath commemorating the late great Christine McVie and all the other great musicians who played at the Ritz Ballroom in the 1960's.
