On Wednesday 30th September from 2pm-3.30pm, Care UK’s Elderflower Grange, on Orphanage Road will be opening its doors for an event designed to help people better understand the symptoms and deconstruct common misconceptions.
The home will be hosting an ‘Understanding Dementia’ session with Customer Relations Manager, Rachel Mackay, who will share her knowledge of dementia, how it can affect people as they age and what you can do to support a loved one.
Jag Singh, Home Manager at Elderflower Grange, said: “Most people will be affected by dementia in their lifetime, whether through their own diagnosis or a loved one’s. We don’t want people to feel alone and unsupported in these times.
“We understand that being more informed and having guidance can make such a difference to the people who need it. We’d encourage the local community to join us; together, we can build a more dementia-friendly community.”
In addition to the event, the Erdington community can visit The Big Dementia Conversation online advice hub. The portal includes in-depth conversations with families of people living with dementia, as well as expert advice from Care UK’s specialists to learn how to reduce the risks and symptoms of the condition.
Designed to enable residents to lead active and fulfilling lives, while also promoting independence, Elderflower Grange will provide full-time residential, dementia and nursing care, as well as short-term respite care. The home will incorporate space for hobby and leisure activities and include its own hair and beauty salon and The Old Fort bar and cinema.
