Care UK’s Metchley Manor on Church Road is inviting people to revisit traditions from Christmas past by joining residents and team members for its event on Sunday 14th December from 11am-4pm.
The event is part of Care UK’s “Step into Christmas” initiative, which aims to rekindle Christmas customs that residents remember from their childhood by reliving them and sharing them with the local community.
On the day, Metchley Manor will be hosting a vintage Christmas fair where guests can browse craft stalls, featuring handmade items, and purchase traditional treats reminiscent of residents’ cherished memories.
Adding to the festive atmosphere, carol singers will be performing hymns throughout the day.
Resident, Bill Whitlock said: “Christmas was always such a magical time when I was growing up. I remember helping my mum make long paper chains to hang across the living room and stirring the Christmas pudding for good luck.”
Kim-Marie Newton, Home Manager at Metchley Manor, said: “Christmas is such a special time of year, and this event allows us to honour the memories from residents’ childhoods, bringing them to life once again.
“This is also a wonderful opportunity to unite the community, celebrate the season and pass on traditions that may otherwise be forgotten.
“We’d like to encourage the local community to join us, together, to celebrate the festive season and bring the memories of Christmas past to Edgbaston.”
