On Thursday 6th August from 11am-1pm, Care UK’s Edgbaston Manor will be opening its doors to families and neighbours for a food festival, inviting guests to tuck in and celebrate the nation’s shared love of great cuisine, community and connection.
Visitors to Speedwell Road can look forward to sampling foods and snacks from around the world, brought in by the care home team.
The home’s chef will also be serving Caribbean food made from locally sourced ingredients.
Resident Micheal Havery, who has been involved in selecting dishes, said: “It’s amazing to bring my culture here to the home and have food that I love. I couldn’t pick one food or dish that is my favourite.”
The event is part of the ‘A Taste of Home’ initiative, which will see all Care UK homes host foodie-themed celebrations and showcase what life in a care home is really like.
Each festival will showcase sustainable, community-focused initiatives while celebrating the diversity and creativity within the homes, from residents’ favourite recipes and traditional dishes to seasonal menus featuring locally sourced ingredients.
