A care home in Edgbaston is inviting the local community to its biggest summer celebration yet.
From Thursday 3rd September to Sunday 6th September at 11am–3pm, Care UK’s Metchley Manor is hosting a Big Weekender to mark the official reopening of its refurbished bistro lounge and entrance area.   The event will showcase the Church Road home's extensive transformation, which is designed to create an even more welcoming and vibrant space for residents and visitors to enjoy.   Guests can expect a special “Metchley barbecue” prepared by the home’s Head Chef, Scott Tame. This will be complete with a bespoke cocktail and a dessert created by residents.   The lively celebrations will also feature a traditional tea dance. Toes will be tapping with live entertainment from pianist Chris Behan and steel pan musician The Mighty Jamma, providing the soundtrack to the festivities.   To keep younger visitors entertained, The Phoenix Children's Foundation will be bringing in donkeys for a meet-and-greet, and there will be a paddling pool set up in the garden.   Sian Bradley, Deputy Manager at Metchley Manor, said: “We're delighted to be celebrating the completion of our refurbishment and can't wait to share our newly transformed spaces with the local community.   “This is an important milestone for Metchley Manor, and the Big Weekender is the perfect opportunity to bring people together and showcase everything our home has to offer.   “We're looking forward to welcoming both familiar faces and new visitors for what promises to be an event to remember!”   Metchley Manor incorporates plenty of space for hobby and leisure activities, including a café, hair and beauty salon and tavern. Its expert team provides full-time residential and dementia care, as well as short-term respite care, while the building offers both assisted living and a reminiscence suite to facilitate individual requirements.   For more information on Metchley Manor, please visit careuk.com/care-homes/metchley-manor-edgbaston or call 0121 468 1402.
