On Tuesday 4th November, from 10am-12pm, Care UK’s Metchley Manor, on Church Road in Edgbaston, is inviting the community to join residents and team members for its Knit and Natter morning.
The event is part of Care UK’s ‘Fixer Uppers’ initiative, which aims to revive traditional repair skills – such as fixing furniture, mending clothes and tackling small maintenance jobs – and celebrate the invaluable knowledge older generations can pass on while promoting sustainability.
Through the interactive session, attendees will have the opportunity to learn the value of mending and creating items by hand. They will also hear some of the residents’ top knitting tips in a relaxed, social setting.
Kim-Marie Newton, Home Manager at Metchley Manor, said: “We’re so excited to be welcoming the local community to join us for our Knit and Natter session. This group is an excellent way for residents and local people to come together, learn from each other and enjoy a relaxed morning.
‘’Residents have honed their knitting skills over a lifetime. As part of our Fixer Uppers project, this session offers them a fantastic opportunity to connect with the community and share practical knowledge in a meaningful way.
“We’re looking forward to encouraging the local community to lead a more sustainable lifestyle too. Who knows, this could also mark the beginning of a new lifelong hobby for our attendees!’’
