Dancing feet at the ready – Sutton Coldfield care home to host community carnival

A care home in Sutton Coldfield will be marching to the beat of its own drum as it opens its doors to the community for a carnival extravaganza.
On Friday 28th August from 11am, Care UK’s Bishops Manor is inviting people to celebrate culture, unity and love at its very own version of Notting Hill Carnival.   There will be live music from local performer Ozy and carnival dancers are sure to get everyone moving, with a Caribbean street food-themed menu prepared by the home’s head chef too.   Adding to the festivities, Bishops Manor's activities team will be offering face painting, bringing an extra splash of colour to the celebrations.   Guests will also have the chance to meet the Jockey Road home’s friendly team, chat with Home Manager Jody Sedgwick and take a tour of the care home – which boasts a café, pub and hair and beauty salon.   Jody said: “We strive to play an active role in our community, which is why we’re thrilled to be welcoming locals to our carnival extravaganza.   “The event will offer an excellent opportunity for everyone to get their dancing shoes on and feel the beat of the music, as well as show visitors what life is like at Bishops Manor.   “We’re looking forward to hosting the community for what we expect to be an exciting day of music and dancing for all ages!”   Bishops Manor has a dedicated team providing full-time residential, dementia and nursing care, as well as short-term respite care.
