Bon appétit! Edgbaston care home to host food festival for local community

With festival season officially under way, a care home in Edgbaston is welcoming the community for a fun-filled day of food and celebration.

On Thursday 6th August from 11am-1pm,Care UK’s Edgbaston Manorwill be openingits doors to families and neighbours for a food festival, inviting guests to tuck in and celebrate the nation’s shared love of great cuisine, community and connection. 

 

Visitors to Speedwell Roadcan look forward to sampling foods and snacks from around the world, brought in by the care home team. 

 

The home’s chef will also be serving Caribbean food made from locally sourced ingredients.  

 

Resident Micheal Havery, who has been involved in selecting dishes, said: “It’s amazing to bring my culture here to the home and have food that I love. I couldn’t pick one food or dish that is my favourite. 

 

The event is part of the ‘A Taste of Home’ initiative, which willsee all Care UK homeshost foodie-themed celebrations and showcase what life in a care home is really like. 

 

Each festival will showcase sustainable, community-focused initiatives while celebrating the diversity and creativity within the homes, from residents’ favourite recipes and traditional dishes to seasonal menus featuring locally sourced ingredients.

“We are part of a strong community here in Edgbaston, and days like this are a wonderful way of bringing people together to celebrate our shared love of food,while giving residents the opportunity to share their favourite recipes and traditions with younger generations. 

  

“The day not only promises a lot of laughter, but it is also an excellent way for residents to meet and mingle with lots of new faces – and some familiar ones. We can’t wait to welcome everyone through the doors.”
