The Emmaus Village Carlton is a 'homeless charity that works'. Homeless people are given a place to live and work, and thus they assist those people to return to mainstream life by helping them to live independently, eventually leading to people leaving to live in their own accommodation. How this is acheived is by the running of a large complex of shops selling second hand goods, including furniture, electricals, clothes, books and bric a brac etc. There is also a lovely conservatory bistro serving coffee, cake and meals at very reasonable prices and of excellent quality. These are all staffed by those living in the Village plus other volunteers, and staff.\rThe Village is on the outskirts of Carlton, and there is a leaflet describing walks that can be taken in its vicinity, around its most picturesque setting.\r\rThis is a place most worth visiting.
