On the eve of her 50th birthday, Alice sets out to confront the trauma of her 10th birthday, which instead of being a day of celebration became the painful beginning of her abuse. Join her and her guests as her fragile reality is threatened throughout the day, as Alice fights to take back what is hers.
Alice is a voice-hearer and a survivor of Childhood Sexual Abuse (CSA).
I greatly appreciate the representation of an ADULT still carrying their trauma, I feel many people fail to see past the ‘child’ aspect of child abuse
-A member of the audience, called Alice.
Development of the show
Based on nearly 3 years of research & development including people on 3 different continents, this piece was first performed as a work-in-progress at the Brighton Fringe in 2021 where it picked up a 5* review (Broadway Baby) before touring to Camden & Guildford Fringe 2021. This theatre piece is devised from research and focus group work with experts by lived experience.
Using optional immersive techniques, the audience is drawn into the experience of a voice–hearer. Using video and audio elements gives the audience a unique and active theatre experience.
