First visit to the area, so had coffee here before walking up to the monument. Having then seen the menu, we decided to have lunch afterwards. What an absolute treat!! An imaginative menu, rather than just your normal sandwiches, soup, burgers etc. Very tasty, well presented, locally sourced ingredients, unpretentious and reasonably priced. The staff were all pleasant, friendly and helpful too. Even the chef came out to talk to people. Certainly a lesson to other food outlets in the area.

We made our fourth visit to Base last night. The staff are always so welcoming and friendly. When booking I request a vegan menu and it is always amazing. Really delicious courses and beautifully presented. It was the first time we've been since they introduced the wine pairing option which really enhanced the experience. Would highly recommend a visit to Base.

Nice walk to the top to see the monument , lots of seating on the way up a little steep in areas there is another way up at the back , open at weekends or if you see the flag flying , beautiful views from the top
