Five adults for a family birthday celebration. A real treat for all of the party. Fine dining in a beautiful location. The three course menu is excellent value and fantastic quality.

My husband and I have been twice since base opened a couple of months ago and I can't praise it highly enough, base isn't just a restaurant it's a dining experience. The food is outstanding, superb flavours and as a vegetarian myself I find it amazing to finally find a restaurant that serves an out of the box, innovative menu that changes on a weekly basis (a la'carte). Of course my husband who is not a vegetarian finds the choice amazing and delicious, it really is a full senses dining experience.
Mark puts passion in his food and restaurant and it shows, the service is excellent and the staff are a credit to the business. Can't recommend 'base' highly enough.

We love our food, love cooking, grow our own and try to buy local, that's why we had to dine here after perusing the menu recently. Dined on cod cheeks, wood pigeon, turbot, squash risotto, rasp and champagne sorbet, treacle tart cinnamon ice cream. Delicious fresh food well presented and being able to see the kitchen during service added to the experience. Service very good, atmosphere friendly and relaxed. Mark took time to chat to each table afterwards. Menu amazingly changes weekly! Keep up the good work we will certainly be returning. Thoroughly enjoyed our evening would recommend if you want an elite dining experience.

One of the best meals we have ever had. Great service, perfect atmosphere, with the food having amazing flavours. Left you wanting more and having to hold back not to lick the plate. The evening finished with a nice touch where Mark, the head chef visited all the tables to ensure you had enjoyed your evening and were able to pass on your feedback directly. Not a crumb left on any plate in the restaurant. We will be back very soon.

We had heard good things about The Base A new venture located in Ford Park in Ulverston so my wife and I decided to try it for lunch in September. We enjoyed it so much we booked on the spot for dinner to celebrate my wife’s birthday a few weeks later. The chef Mark Satterthwaite and his staff cook in an open kitchen and everyone is seated and served in one sitting. The menu is original and sourced almost entirely locally. The food was excellent from start to finish and spectacularly good value. The business deserves to flourish and we wish them all the best in this difficult time.
