Great value two course lunch. Very quick service. Food presented beautifully by friendly, efficient staff. Quiet venue with spacious tables and chairs.
A good selection of dishes on the special lunchtime deal but there is another menu available to order from ,should you want to choose from a larger variety of food available.

Not been here for a while. Restaurant not very busy on an evening visit. Service was good, food good but the sizzling beef we ate was superb. Portion sizes right for us and price seems reasonable. Will go back again

Liz has hugely helped our son who was really struggling with school anxiety.
She gave him a safe space to open up to better understand his anxiety and mindset.
She helped him learn techniques to cope and fedback to us between sessions to help support him.
He is much less worried and his school attendance has improved.
We are so grateful.

In December 2022, Corporal Cactus. said about Old Government House Hotel & Spa
Stayed for 4 nights in early December on a shopping sightseeing trip from the Mainland. Meals were excellent , even though drinks rather overpriced. All staff were excellent and couldn't do enough for you.
We had a Queen room which was well equipped but rather small. The bathroom had a separate shower which is always a plus but sadly no toiletries were near the bath, so if shampoo was needed whilst having a bath one had to get out and go to shower.
There was also a blue light in the bathroom which we never discovered how to turn it off, so it was always on even throughout the night.
Rooms over the function rooms can also be a little noisy at night.
Over all a good experience but, allowing non assist dogs in the main eating areas is a no no for me. Sorry.

I cannot begin to tell you how absolutely amazing the staff are in The OGH. I’ve never experienced anything like it!
Everyone was so helpful and cheerful. They couldn’t do enough for you.
As soon as you walk into reception and are greeted by front of house you feel incredibly welcome.
Byron in the restaurant was exemplary- what a star!
I feel terrible but I didn’t catch the barman’s name - but he quietly took such care and pride in producing his cocktails for us each evening. A credit to the hotel.
The rooms were serviced brilliantly twice a day. The staff who carried it out were always lovely and cheerful.
Red Carnation have the service totally spot on!

My husband and I went for a meal last night at the OGH as we had a gift voucher for three courses each with wine. The food was beautiful, and the service was perfect. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive, and very willing to take a photo of us! I can’t have wine and they were very accommodating (I had advised in advance). The only shame is how quiet it was there (although we appreciated that!).

We had a voucher for a wine tasting evening, the staff, particularly Wyne, were attentive, knowledgeable and so engaged and friendly. We would highly recommend this experience!! Ask to be served in the wine tasting room on booking if you are a small/intimate party. 110% effort even thought it was just 2 of us and we were paying both voucher.

We headed to the Curry Room for a date night before our next baby, and had the most wonderful evening. The curries were delicious, we especially enjoyed being able to try a selection so many things on the menu with some lovely extra touches.
The service was exceptional, we were looked after by Siya and 'service with a smile' doesn't do him justice. He was fantastic and made the evening really special. Thank you!

Excellent hotel. Conveniently placed for town. Friendly, helpful staff. Comfortable room. Delicious food - the best breakfasts ever! Good choices for Afternoon Tea and evening meals. Highly recommended👍😊
